Job Summary: The Driver

personnel and/or commodities.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- The UN WFP Driver provides reliable
driving services by using assigned vehicle for the transport of authorised
WFP staff members, officials and visitors as per authorized routing
following UN safety and security rules and regulations; - The jobholder also delivers and collect
goods, mail, documents and other items; - Takes care of the day-to-day maintenance
of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres etc.; - Carries out minor repairs and ensure that
the vehicle is kept cleanand ingood running condition at all times; - Logs official trips, daily mileage, fuel
consumption, oil changes, greasing etc.; - Prepare weekly records of mileage
travelled and tonnage moved; - Reads and understands specific
vehicle/operating manuals to ensure the safety and appropriate operations
of the vehicle; - The jobholder also negotiates, liaises and
coordinates with local authorities to facilitate vehicle movements in
designated areas; - Takes the steps required in accordance
with the rules and regulations in case of an accident; - Performs other related duties.

- The ideal candidate for the United Nations
UN World Food Programme (WFP) Driver (Field Offices job opportunity should
hold a Uganda Certificate of Education (O Level) - A minimum of two years’ experience as a
Driver plus a safe driving record gained from a reputable organization; - Possess a clean and valid driving license;
attach copy of the driving permit. - Defensive driving and first aid training
is desirable; - Computer literacy i.e. good knowledge and
skills in using MS Office applications; - Knowledge of driving rules and
regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, local roads/waterways and
conditions, and security issues. - Knowledge of the vehicle loading capacity
and other parameters. - Knowledge of driving/boat operating rules
and regulations whichever applicable. - Knowledge of safety standards and safety
equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers, buoyant wearable safety devices,
etc.). - Ability to read and interpret documents
such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and
procedure manuals. - Proven skills to assist in case of
emergency, knowledge of first aid basic methods. - Knowledge and ability to use radio, email,
telephone and other applications. - Ability to assess vehicles for mechanical
fitness and skills in minor vehicle repairs. - Ability to demonstrate a client-oriented
approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy and tact. - Excellent command of both written &
oral English is essential;
