About US:
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) seeks to end
pediatric HIV/AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment
programs. We are a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS,
working in 15 countries and at 7,000 sites around the world to prevent the transmission
of HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today, because of the
highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners over the last 25
years, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States and
new infections in children have declined by 58% worldwide. EGPAF Uganda Country
program is currently implementing a number of projects in partnership with
various donors.
Job Summary: The Youth and
Adolescent Health Advisor will champion the designing and delivery of Youth and
Adolescent interventions including Sexual and Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS
prevention, care and treatment and support services. The Advisor will lead and
develop innovative and evidence based interventions to support the youth and
adolescents, including those living with HIV/AIDS. The advisor will ensure that
integration of youth and adolescent-friendly services into the comprehensive
integrated health services is done during planning and implementation of the
project activities, create awareness and generate demand for related services
and ensure constant monitoring and leveraging of resources for program success.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·        
Formulate strategies that will ensure that youth
and adolescents’ needs are adequately addressed and enhance their access to a
range of services that include Family Planning/ Sexual and Reproductive Health
and HIV prevention, care, treatment and support services.
·        
Lead development/adaptation of technical tools
in consultation with the relevant senior staff and other key stakeholders at
all stages of the project implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
·        
Offer technical support and build capacity of
program teams, district health teams, CSOs/CBOs and other partners in
integrating Family Planning/Reproductive Health, Care and Treatment into the
Youth and Adolescents-friendly services.
·        
Assist in the planning, implementation,
monitoring and evaluation of DREAMS-lite package in the targeted districts.
·        
Provide technical guidance during the
development of annual work plan and participates in the planning and budgeting
activities, especially in regard to Youth and Adolescents Health services
including Family Planning and Reproductive Health as well as HIV prevention and
HIV care and treatment services.
·        
Coordinate technical reporting according to
defined reporting schedule and write regular monitoring and technical reports
as required by EGPAF and the donor.
·        
Provide support in identifying, documenting,
disseminating and scaling up best practices in Youth and Adolescent Health,
design and/or adapt communication strategies that target the youth &
adolescents to create behavior change in the community;



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The applicant for the USAID Project Youth and
Adolescent Health Advisor job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in
Medicine and Surgery, Social Sciences, Social Works and Social Administration,
Public Health or any other related field
·        
Possession of a Master’s degree in Public Health
or related field, additional training in management of reproductive health
programs is of added advantage,
·        
At least five years’ experience in
management/coordination of Adolescent/Youth Sexual Reproductive Health
interventions
·        
Extensive knowledge of Adolescent Sexual
Reproductive Health Policies, guidelines and strategies, knowledge of
decentralized health system.
·        
Counseling and supporting youths, adolescents
and their families, knowledge of life skills and adolescent responsive
programming, report writing, monitoring and evaluation of projects, basic
knowledge of research data collection methods
·        
Working knowledge of project planning and
management principles.
