CEHURD is an indigenous, non-profit, research and advocacy
organization, which is pioneering the enforcement of human rights and the
justiciability of the right to health in Eastern Africa. Founded in 2007 and
registered under the laws of Uganda, as a company limited by guarantee
Certificate No. 114712, it was formed to contribute towards ensuring that laws
and policies are used as the principal tools for the promotion and protection
of health and human rights of populations in Uganda, and the East African
region. CEHURD focuses its efforts on critical issues of human rights and
health systems in East Africa such as sexual and reproductive health rights,
trade and health, and medical ethics which affect the vulnerable and
less-advantaged populations such as women, children, orphans, sexual
minorities, people living with HIV/AIDS, persons with disabilities,
internally-displaced persons, refugee populations and victims of violence,
torture, disasters and conflict.
Job Summary: The Monitoring
and Evaluation (M&E) Associate will provide support in monitoring and
evaluating the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development’s (CEHURD)
ongoing projects. The M&E Associate will be responsible for overall M&E
and learning needs of CEHURD’s projects and will come up with findings based on
key data that demonstrate the performance of the projects. The Associate,
working with the Program Managers, will also help CEHURD in strengthening its
M&E functions to help deliver better programming based on their
experiences. The Associate will play a role in promoting key learnings for the
improvement of the projects and for wider learning in our organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee regular data collection through
    CEHURD’s programs and ensure quality of the data by random verifications
    and validations
  • Record, manage, and preserve monitoring
    and evaluation data in a safe and accessible manner
  • Analyze and discuss findings based on
    regular monitoring data
  • Provide technical support on M&E and
    evidence-based recommendations to the relevant Program Managers, Staff,
    and Partners
  • Ensure that implementation of field
    activities adheres to CEHURD’s monitoring and evaluation system
  • Support partners in conducting baseline
    surveys and knowledge, attitude, practice (KAP) surveys
  • Participate actively in program planning
    process and budgeting of the program quality and fundraising unit
  • Support Program team in developing the
    annual and six month organizational reports
  • Support Program team in dealing with any
    other tasks as may be required



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Global Health
    Monitoring and Evaluation Associate job placement should hold a Bachelor’s
    degree or master’s degree in public health or any M&E-related field
  • At least two years of M&E or relevant
    experience
  • Previous experience in designing tools and
    strategies for data collection, analysis, and production of reports
  • Expertise in analyzing data using
    statistical software
  • At least five years of experience in the
    design and implementation of M&E/MIS in development projects
    implemented by national/international NGOs/UN bodies/government
  • Proven ICT skills, especially in the
    development of MIS software using database software
  • Preferred M&E experience in an
    academic institution, NGO, or a research agency
  • Strong training and facilitation skills
  • Adhere to CEHURD values and to actively
    promote their application amongst colleagues
  • Undertake tasks in a creative,
    self-driven, and innovative fashion
  • Identify and implement additional
    tasks/ideas of benefit to the organization
