involved In the water and sanitation sector of Uganda. Currently UWASNET has a
membership of 250 NGOs that operate in different parts of the Country.

Job Summary: The
Executive Director provides overall strategic and operational leadership to the
UWASNET Secretariat reporting to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director
is responsible for ensuring that all UWASNET’s activities are planned,
resourced, Implemented, monitored and evaluated in a timely manner to ensure
that they are appropriate, cost effective, sustainable and contribute towards
achieving members goals and objectives. The job holder will ensure that UWASNET
meets its planned objectives and is accountable to stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and
Partnerships:
Partnerships:
- Give
strategic leadership to UWASNET - Act
in the name of the organization and represent UWASNET to agencies,
organizations and the general public - Conduct
official correspondence of UWASNET. - Identify
and develop partnerships with NGOs, government agencies, institutions etc.
to advance mutual goals.
Program Planning and Management:
- Take
lead in developing program, organizational and financial plans and
implement approved plans and policies. - Ensure
staff are compliant With financial and adhere to strategic direction of
UWASNET - Support
members to develop project proposals - Manage
sub grants on behalf of members - Direct
and oversee day to day activities and operations of the organization and
ensure that the work/activities of UWASNET supports and guides the
organization’s mission. - Ensure
that organization’s seal, correspondences, documents and records are at
all times properly kept and that UWASNET complies with applicable laws,
policies and regulations. - Be
a principle to the bank accounts of the organization - Responsible
for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support the
work of the organization - Identify
and evaluate the risks to the organization (staff, property, finances,
goodwill, image) and implement appropriate measures to control risks
Human Resource Management:
- Advise
board in staff recruitment and develop high performing teams to advance
UWASNET’s goats and objectives - Ensure
that job descriptions are developed that regular performance evaluations
are held, and that sound human resource practices are in place. - Ensure
staff meetings are regularly held and staff concerns are timely addressed
within the provisions of the applicable HR policies
Board Affairs:
- Secretary
to the board and the General Assembly. - Submit
to the board reports of the activities of the organization and ensure that
the board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and
all important factors influencing it. - Represent
staff at Board meetings - Update
and keep in safe custody the organization’s register of members
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area:
Civil/water/environmental engineering; Public Health or a related field;
Possession of post graduate qualifications in management is an added
advantage. - At
least five years’ experience in senior management role in similar
organization(s) - Excellent
organizational and leadership abilities including planning, program
development, prioritization and financial management skills
