project in the settlement of Imvepi and Omugo in West Nile Sub-region working in
collaboration with other WASH partners to provide safe WASH services to the
South Sudanese refugees.

Job Summary: The Water
Engineering Officer should have hands-on experience in project planning and
implementation, designing and developing BoQs, supervision of WASH related
hardware works as detailed below.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project planning and
implementation

- Work
with Cordaid WASH team to undertake Sanitation and Hygiene detailed needs
assessments and analysis at project implementation level and design
appropriate project interventions to meet the needs on ground based on
UNHCR and Sphere standards. - Develop
Designs and Bills of Quantities for the WASH hardware works - Take
lead on the supervision and provision of hands-on technical back stopping
to Cordaid’s contractors during construction but also giving appropriate
instructions to improve on the work quality. - Work
with the WASH Officers to monitor the distribution of HH latrine
construction materials and support/guide beneficiaries to construct their
latrines especially in rocky and flooding sites.
Monitoring and evaluation of

- Actively
take part in the inspection and certification of the contractors’ works
and evaluate the performance of the contractors ensuring that quality work
is delivered. - Actively
take part during the joint monitoring visits to the areas where Cordaid is
implementing hardware works - Work
directly with Cordaid’s contractors on a daily basis on-site to ensure
that the client is well represented and attend to all the issues that may
arise during construction
Documentation and reporting
- Document
all field activities, prepare and submit timely reports to line manager.
This will range from daily, weekly progress updates to monthly, quarterly
and end of project reporting. - Represent
Cordaid at the WASH coordination working group meetings (much emphasis on
the Water Supply Technical Working Group) and interagency when delegated. - Ensure
that all the WASH construction documents are filed and kept safe - Any
other duty as assigned by the supervisor/line manager from time to time
based on the identified needs and urgency and note that this ToR is not
exhaustive.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for the Cordaid Water Engineering Officer job vacancy
should hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil, Environmental
Engineering - Knowledge
of Sanitation and Hygiene promotion in a refugee setting is desirable - Three
years of experience working in the WASH sector with a bias in water supply
systems’ contracts management and water supply standards. - Proficient
in using computer aided engineering software for designing WASH related
designs e.g WaterCAD, AutoCARD, EPANET and GIS
