households and communities to fulfill their obligations in child care and
development and affiliated to Baptist Union of Uganda. Share An Opportunity –
Uganda’s key thematic areas are child health, Basic Education for OVC’s, Child
Advocacy, Enterprise Development and food security, and institutional development
for community based organisations while HIV/AIDS is mainstreamed in the
program.
Job Summary: The Project
Officer Child Partnerships & Connections will support SAO-U;s ts Project
areas in Kaberamaido District. The project officer will oversee programmes
aimed at child partner activities to enhance child participation in the
community. The officer should be able to speak the local community dialect
(Kumam)
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Take
    lead in child partner recruitment, collecting partner information and
    letter writing.
  • Ensure
    safe and rewarding connections between communities and sponsors.
  • Ensure
    implementation of appropriate child participation activities through which
    they can express their views.
  • Conduct
    visits to partners to provide support, guidance and training of
    participation activities according to the plan, policies and procedures.
  • Implement
    appropriate national and SAO policies and standards that guide programming
    in the early childhood care and development
  • Coordinate
    and facilitate community mobilization efforts aimed at empowering parents,
    caregivers and communities to assume responsibility and care of their
    children.
  • Develop
    and implement high quality ECCD/Education programmes focusing on the
    child’s total development aimed at enabling the child acquire appropriate
    competencies to grow, develop and function productively in society.
  • Implement
    training and capacity building programmes aimed at equipping staff,
    parents and care givers with culturally sensitive child rearing skills that
    enhance child development.
  • Design
    and implement collaborative researches and studies that focus on the
    problems associated with child partnerships and participation programs and
    to identify effective solutions and quality interventions to improve
    programme delivery.
  • To
    represent SAO in meetings, conferences, workshops and other fora to
    articulate child related activities .
  • Prepare
    position papers, quarterly progress reports and a review of annual
    activity achievement reports.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    ideal candidate should preferably hold an honours degree in: Community
    Development, Social Sciences, SWASA, Development Studies or an equivalent
    from a recognised university. A Masters’ degree qualification is an added
    advantage
  • Four
    years of proven working experience in community based work in Children
    related fields.
  • Experience
    in handling sponsorship correspondence activities.
  • A
    good knowledge of project cycle management and experience in project
    monitoring and evaluation.
  • A
    good knowledge of Child rights and Uganda education sector policies.
  • Excellent
    communication and presentation skills
  • Good
    computer skills
