• Plan and execute systematic screening of
  women and children living with untreated war- wounds to identify
  medical/psychosocial/legal needs
• Ensure the provision of psychosocial
  support, counselling, referrals and advice to clients with untreated
  war-wounds, trauma and torture
• Manage the provision of
  post-rehabilitation support, counselling, documentation of stories of
  healing and recovery of clients to inform key stakeholders and catalyse
  special local government and line ministry interventions.
• Manage the emergency medical funds and
  coordinate emergency medical referrals to approved medical service
  providers and the home-based medical care scheme for persons unable to
  access public services.
• Coordinate field visits and follow-up
  with clients in the different villages across the West Nile region
• Establish new and strengthen existing
  support groups through provision of technical support
• Plan, develop and implement client care
  and communication strategies including establishing close working ties
  with relevant partner organisations
• Establishing new victims/survivors’
  support groups of returnees

• Facilitate in trainings, workshops,
  conferences and seminars on transitional justice issues
• Coordinate trainings and information
  sessions organized by RLP and for RLP
• Organise and coordinate annual events
  related to project
• Plan and provide training activities on
  other psychosocial issues
• Hold psycho-medical camps to provide
  multi-dimensional individual and group therapeutic sessions in key
  massacre sites
• Organise and facilitate community
  outreach activities e.g. local reconciliation with cultural and religious
  leaders, elders on identified conflict in the community, travelling
  testimony exhibitions

• Conduct and disseminate field research
  on emerging Transitional Justice and women/children issues.
• Organise and engage in data collection
  processes and activities through interviews and focus group discussions or
  using any other adopted data selection technique
• Identify and prepare research training
  materials and tools as necessary for the execution of specific research
  projects
• Engage children in and out of school
  through poems, talent shows
• Manage bi-annual children’s radio talk
  shows
• Organise documentary screening in secondary
  schools, tertiary and in the community
• Document and curate narratives for
  exhibitions

• Represent the organization in various
  fora that address forced migration issues related to conflict, gender and
  children.
• Conduct advocacy on post-conflict issues
  on women and children;
• Advocate for the mainstreaming of a
  range of gender issues in West Nile region.
• Consult with related professional and
  paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic
  and/or casework; refer clients to appropriate service agencies as
  required.
• Coordinate follow-ups to determine
  reliability and validity of treatment used; make recommendations regarding
  modification to services and service delivery
• Participate in the review of
  psychosocial issues and program policies and procedures
• Lead, and/or coordinate training
  sessions and workshops to enhance psychosocial skills of staff and/or
  client groups

• The ideal candidate for the Refugee Law
  Project (RLP) Project Officer job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s
  Degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Community Education or related
  human services field
• At least three years of proven and
  relevant work experience with vulnerable communities (e.g. community mobilisation,
  social work, counselling and engaging with women and children, research in
  war-affected communities etc.)
• Previous experience of empirical
  research, data analysis, and evidence based reports and evidence based
  reports
• Has worked with an NGO or can understand
  the way NGO’s operate
• Practical and theoretical understanding
  of sexuality, sexual and gender based violence
• Excellent written and spoken English and
  communication skills
• Excellent networking and communication skills
• Good computer skills (standard office and PowerPoint
  software) are necessary
