About US:
The Infectious
Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization.
IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and
Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications and have impacted
on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over
41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May
2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of Health
Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of
Health.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Coordinate
and oversee the SEARCH Sapphire Prevention trials in Western Uganda health
facilities and communities.
·
Work
closely with the field coordinator to ensure that prevention trials are carried
out smoothly
·
Ensure
that the research data collected are accurate and adhere to the study protocol
in accordance with Good Clinical Practices
·
Supervise
staff members working on the SEARCH Sapphire prevention trials to ensure that
they deliver on their study outputs and adhere to IDRC policies
·
Ensuring
all the regulatory documentation of the study particularly ensuring that study
continuous review forms are complete and filled appropriately
·
Participate
in training of study staff to conduct and implement the SEARCH Sapphire
prevention trials using the study protocol and SOPs.
·
Liaise
with the health facility in charge and study technical team leads to ensure the
safety of study teams and study participants in the context of COVID-19
prevention measures.
·
Provide
weekly study updates /reports to the study team as required from time to time.
·
Participate
in weekly study meetings as scheduled by the study team.
·
Participate
in budgeting and developing annual work plans for the study.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The
ideal candidate must hold a Degree in Human Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from a
reputable institution
·
At least
two years’ progressive work experience in a clinical and/or community HIV
research institution
·
Registered
with and licenced by UMDPC with up to date APL
·
Previous
training in HIV combination prevention including PrEP delivery at community
level is an added advantage.
·
Being
fluent in Runyankore and other languages used in SW Uganda is an added
advantage
·
Must
have good computer and interpersonal skills.
·
Must
have valid GCP and PHRP certificates
