About US:
SPOUTS is a social venture that locally manufactures and distributes
effective ceramic water filters to improve the access to clean drinking water
sustainably in Uganda. In addition, we locally manufacture free hand-washing
stations to improve access to hygiene. Our mission is to provide
clean drinking water and hygiene services to all East Africans. We currently
sell multiple water filter products under the brand name
“Purifaaya”. The Purifaaya provides financial, social, and health
benefits for its customers in addition to environmental benefits. Since SPOUTS
sold its first Purifaaya in 2015, it has distributed 60,000+ filters to East
Africa providing over 350,000 end-users with long-term access to clean drinking
water. SPOUTS is a rapidly-growing organization with over 100
employees and the next step is to scale its operations across all of East
Africa to provide all with clean drinking water.
Job Summary: The Business Development Associate will be responsible
for taking on a variety of tasks that allow for the successful completion of
planned business development programs. The Business Development Associate is
responsible for developing and implementing growth strategies for the
achievement of sales, revenue and expansion goals. Should possess the right
blend of analytical talent and business know-how, should be a team player who
not only understand how to identify a new market opportunity, but also know
what it takes to lead a team forward and realize that opportunity. We’re
especially looking for someone with great communication skills, as you’ll be
expected to interact with shareholders, executives and clients on a daily
basis.
This work will be a
critical factor for the smooth operation of the Sales & Marketing
department and the attainment of its goals, as well as for the long-term growth
of the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop
business and marketing plans in coordination with Supervisor and Marketing team
to achieve revenue goals.
·
Assist
in company’s branding and media communication activities such as press
releases, advertisements, marketing collaterals, and web site.
·
Analyse
the current and past budgets, expenses, sales, revenues and product
deficiencies in order to provide recommendations for business growth and
problem resolution.
·
Research
the market for identifying new business opportunities.
·
Explain
prospective clients about the advantages of the products offered and follow up
with them in order to close the business deals.
·
Respond
to the client queries regarding the products in a timely fashion.
·
Develop
business proposals for new and existing customers.
·
Develop
creative strategies to retain the clients including interviewing them to take
their feedback and incorporate it into the growth plan.
·
Develop
in-depth knowledge about business development practices, marketing activities,
prospective clients and industry trends.
·
Maintain
a knowledge repository of clients, referrals, RFPs, prospects and
presentations.
·
Develop
strong customer relationships in order to generate high volume of prospective
clients.
·
Manage
customer calls and appointments effectively for new opportunities.
·
Participate
in industry forums, client discussions, and conferences as a representative of
the organization.
·
Determine
cross-selling opportunities among different offices.
·
Supervise
the client relationship management database and utilize it to manage customer
contacts and mailing lists.
·
Other
Responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
·
Demonstrate
corporate responsibility.
·
Always
act in a manner consistent with SPOUTS’ values.
·
Comply
with the SPOUTS’ standards of conduct and all applicable policies and
legislation.

Represent
SPOUTS in public and official forums, functions and joint ventures as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Proven
experience in a business development capacity
·
A
qualification relevant to the work of Business Development Associate will be
highly regarded.

Excellent
communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize,
negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

knowledge of MS Office, CRM tools and other business analysis programs

Good
knowledge of market research techniques and databases
·
Language
requirements: High level of competence in spoken and written English language
skills. Other local language skills is a plus.
