(IPPF), and its core mandate is to promote high quality, highimpact and gender
sensitive Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights information and services
through capacity building, specialized service delivery, issue specific
advocacy and strategic partnerships.

Job Summary: The Gender Coordinator will be responsible for
diffusing gender equality into all RHU Projects and programmes, and providing
gender focused technical guidance and coordination of RHU’s efforts. In this
way s/he will help to mainstream gender and ensure Gender transformative
approaches are adopted and applied in project implementation and impact measurement.
The incumbent will support both head office and branch staff to ensure gender
equality, coordinating and provision of technical guidance in implementation
of. but not limited to RHU’s youth. Key Populations. Corporate Social
Responsibility and sustainable development activities. Gender equality focuses
on equal rights, opportunities and obligations of women and men: and on an
increased potential for both women and men to influence, participate in and
benefit from development processes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical guidance
and support

- Provide technical support on gender equality and programming
including participation in gender assessments, audits and studies. - Provide technical support in the development of gender equality
responsive indicators and ensure comprehensive reporting as per the
organization and donor requirements and produce project progress reports
as required - Contribute to developing policy position papers/briefs and advocacy
messaging on thematic gender equality issues in partnership with
government, CSO’s and national level partners - Promote gender equality during all the activities to positively
challenge beliefs and attitudes at community level Document project
activities, case studies, lessons learnt, what worked well and what areas
need improvement - Share relevant information with key actors to change policy and
influence practice
Capacity Building
- Empower women and men, including the most vulnerable, to claim their
sexual and reproductive rights and gender equality. - Develop the capacity of CSOs, networks and alliances to hold
governments accountable for their human rights obligations and to push for
change in norms and values to promote gender equality
Monitoring and
Research
Research
- Develop methodologies and guidelines for promoting effective gender
equality across all programme areas and operations. - Contribute to gender policy research and advocacy through networking
and collaboration with relevant civil society organizations and other
institutions. - Engagement of networks and partnership building
- Establish and maintain strategic networks/contacts with project
partners, district authorities, communities and other significant
stakeholders to support gender equality programming.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences,
Gender/Development Studies or related field. Post Graduate training in
Project Planning Management together with prior knowledge of working with
a Non-Government Organization is an added advantage. - Three years’ proven experience in gender programming, coordination
and implementation of gender projects, including SGBV - Computer literacy skills
- Strong documentation, coordination and advocacy skills; strong
analytical and strategic planning abilities - A good understanding of existing international, national, and local
gender polices and gender mainstreaming approaches - Strong interpersonal and PR communication skills.
- Hands on experience in facilitation specifically with gender
equality analysis, capacity building trainings for staff and key
stakeholders - Demonstrated skills and experience in proposal development, report
writing - Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team together with
capacity to deal with people of diverse cultures.
