provide lasting solutions to poverty, injustice and human suffering. LWF Uganda
works to reduce people’s vulnerability, supporting them to realize their
potential, to build on their assets, and to respond to their own problems and
needs. LWF Uganda currently has five areas of operation in Pader, Kitgum,
Adjumani, Katakwi, Sembabule, Kampala and Kamwenge Districts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Lead the development of an appropriate Food Security and Sustainable
    Livelihood intervention strategy within Moyo Sub Program context that
    includes early recovery, disaster risk reduction and community
    development;
  • Lead a team of livelihood technical staff to ensure that the
    strategy is implemented to the highest quality standards;
  • Lead a team of livelihood technical staff to ensure efficient and
    effective project implementation, timely completion of high-quality work
    plans, accurate reports, and other mandated deliverables are achieved;
  • Oversee and directly manage food security and livelihoods projects
    in the provision of technical support, development of logical frameworks
    and appropriate indicators, development of project proposals and
    budgeting, and project narrative and financial reporting in line with
    donor requirements;
  • Conduct continuous market intelligence and assessments in Moyo Sub
    Program to inform programming including identification of sectors and
    value chains that have high potential to benefit programme participants;
  • Conduct regular field visits to review and report on progress of
    Livelihoods interventions; specifically in relation to efficiency and
    effectiveness and to determine future programme development with a view to
    programme expansion and development;
  • Lead in using the findings of surveys and ongoing analysis to ensure
    optimal program performance and design modifications as appropriate;
  • Coordinate and network with other stakeholders to promote
    appropriate humanitarian and development programming within the framework
    of LWF’s Food Security and Livelihood policies;
  • Identify and assess the capacity needs of the national staff,
    partners and counterparts involved in the programme, plan and implement
    capacity building activities;
  • Ensure the effective implementation of personnel and administrative
    management systems, including policies and procedures for all programs in
    portfolio.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Lutheran World Relief
    (LWR) Livelihood /Environment Coordinator job opportunity should hold
    a Bachelor’s degree  in Agricultural
    Studies or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Post Graduate qualification in agriculture, animal science, or other
    related      discipline is an added
    advantage;
  • At least four years of experience working in livelihoods or income
    generating projects preferably with an NGO in a refugee/IDP setting;
  • Deeper understanding of humanitarian and sustainable livelihoods
    programming in a variety of livelihoods intervention areas;
  • Proven practical experience in both agriculture and non-agriculture
    livelihood interventions;
  • Demonstrated Community development skills;
  • Experience in Monitoring & Evaluation of Livelihoods Programs;
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work in a
    wide variety of cultural contexts;
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a rapidly
    changing professional environment;
  • Strong competencies in people management, capacity building and
    coaching;
  • Excellent communicator who leads in
    building relationships within LWF and with other stakeholders such as
    partners, donors, authorities.
