Job Summary: The
Driver/Clerk serves as the main Driver for the OBO-Kampala NOX/SPX
Project. H/she also assists with basic administrative duties including managing
the office over the weekend whenever necessary, filing, photocopying and
answering phone calls. He/She acts as the office messenger. This position is a
limited duration contract position which will end in approximately 3 years, in
accordance with the OBO-Kampala NOX/SPX Project completion date

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates a passenger motor vehicle / light cargo vehicle to expedite
and transport agency personnel, official and VIP visitors. - Performs minor preventive vehicle maintenance activities including
cleaning, checking tire and oil pressure and reports any eventualities to
his supervisor. - Ensures that the Embassy’s motor vehicle rules and regulations are
observed by all passengers at all times. Performs minor preventive vehicle
maintenance activities including cleaning, checking tire and oil pressure
and reports any eventualities to his supervisor. - Ensures that the Embassy’s motor vehicle rules and regulations are
observed by all passengers at all times. Performs messenger and delivery
work, including the pickup and delivery of documents or invitations, or
carrying out various other important errands. - Maintains logs for vehicle usage, maintenance tracking, warranty
program, and fuel consumption.

- Provides basic office administrative assistance and other general
services, to include computer work, filing and copying, answering phones,
receiving and escorting visitors, assembling reports, maintaining the
office technical library and construction drawing files, and ensuring that
the office environment is kept neat and orderly. - Overseas the OBO-Kampala NOX/SPX Project office on holidays/weekend
for the administration section when driving or expediting is not required. - Note: This position description in no way states or implies that

required to perform other duties as assigned by the agency.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

- The applicants for the US Embassy Driver/Clerk job opportunity
should hold an “O” and “A” level Education from an
accredited institution - At least two years of work experience as a Driver/Chauffeur is
required. - Must have a good working knowledge of general office operations and
procedures. - Should be familiar with the local traffic regulations and road
networks. - Must know how to perform basic vehicle maintenance services
(fueling, check tire pressure and wear, coolant and oil levels, be aware
of indications that need additional maintenance/repair). - Ability to safely operate a passenger and light cargo motor vehicle
and possess a valid driver’s license (Class B, DL & CM). - Should be computer literate (to perform various office duties; data
entry, submit requisitions and filing). - Ability to discover car safety discrepancies.
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to work in a multiple cultured environment
- Good communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Highly flexible and able to work under pressure.
- Language Proficiency: Level 3 (Good Working Knowledge) reading/speaking/writing of
English is required and will be tested. Level 3 (Good Working Knowledge)
speaking of Luganda or Runyakitara is required.
