Uganda Airlines is
the National Carrier of the Republic of Uganda based at Entebbe International
Airport. It is headquartered in Entebbe, Wakiso District, Uganda, and operates
from its hub in Entebbe International Airport. 
Job Summary:  The Manager Engineering and Planning will be
responsible for all the aircraft maintenance and engineering planning activities
of the airline. The Manager works hand in hand with the base maintenance and
line maintenance managers to ensure that all required maintenance activities
are conducted in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner. He/She ensures
maintenance of a reliable, on-time and cost effective scheduled service. He/She
is responsible for liaising with Regulatory authorities, manufacturers (OEMs)
and other relevant entities on engineering and planning matters. He/She reports
to the Director of Maintenance and Engineering.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure that all engineering and planning functions for the Airline
    are executed in timely, effective, safe and cost effective manner
  • Maintain effective liaison with all external  engineering and maintenance functions,
    Maintenance Control Centre and manufacturers.
  • Responsible for the implementation of safety management systems and
    processes in engineering and planning.
  • Ensure the certificate of airworthiness of each aircraft is
    maintained, renewed and kept valid for all operations.
  • Ensure maintenance program development, approval, application and
    continuous monitoring of its effectiveness.
  • Manage and ensure effective application of approved Reliability
    Programs.
  • Ensure effective evaluation and application of continuing
    airworthiness information and compliance with all mandatory information.
  • Ensure effective monitoring and assessment of maintenance and
    operational experience with respect to continuing airworthiness.
  • Monitor timely rectification of defects and application of deferral
    policy.
  • Implement policy for non-mandatory modifications in accordance with
    the National Airworthiness Regulatory framework.
  • Ensure preservation and maintenance of maintenance records and
    transfer as per applicable rules.
  • Ensure timely collection of data for continuing airworthiness.
  • Ensure  that all electronic
    information both mandatory and non mandatory is kept safe and transferred
    when needed and adequately.
  • Ensure that all defects malfunctions and failures are reported on
    time to all relevant authorities and entities.
  • Ensure that all required continuing airworthiness information and
    approved data is subscribed to in time and that all the information is
    current.
  • Provide human resource expertise to aid in technical investigation
    of reportable defects, malfunctions and failures.
  • Ensure Development, revision and approval of MEL and CDL in liaison
    with Fleet Captains.
  • Ensure Planning of maintenance events and coordination of tooling,
    equipment and spares provision.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Uganda Airlines Manager, Engineering and
    Planning job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Background in aircraft maintenance and engineering management plus
    experience in continued airworthiness management.
  • Aircraft maintenance Engineers License with appropriate airframe and
    power plant or Avionics ratings is an added advantage.
  • Five years of experience in Aviation Engineering and Planning,
  • Familiar with aircraft types operated by the Uganda Airlines
  • Computer knowledge with skills and experience in computerised
    maintenance programs and software is a must.
  • Being a member of a professional body is an added advantage.
