Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency against world hunger. It
is the largest and longest serving humanitarian agency in Uganda. Currently WFP
focuses on three priority areas: Saving lives in Emergencies; Building
Resilience through Predictable Safety Nets; Improving Nutrition &
Mother-and Child Health; and Supporting Small Holder Farmers to Access Markets.
WFP has operations in various parts of the Country.
perform specialized and/or standardized policy and programme-related processes
and activities to support the effective delivery of assistance packages.
- Maintain a functional database for Monitoring and Evaluation related
to indicators of food and nutrition security and general WFP corporate
reporting requirements; - Ensure the Country Office database is appropriately aligned to
respond to Monitoring and Evaluation needs of WFP Uganda; - In liaison with ICT unit, ensure that the database is running on a
safe and robust platform and the backup of the database is done regularly
and an appropriate disaster recovery mechanism is in place; - Ensure entry of cooperating partners distribution reports into
ProMIS or other WFP corporate tools for data management; - Organise refresher trainings on database management and monitoring
for Uganda Country Office, sub office and partner staff; - Provide required inputs for all corporate reporting requirements
like special project reports/ad-hoc- reports. Serve as focal person for
data entry into COMET or any other WFP Corporate system for reporting; - Track, very and reconcile beneficiary, food or cash movement and
distribution data; - Provide timely feedback to sub offices and partners on reports
submitted and any other related duty.
- The ideal candidate for the United Nations UN World Food Programme
(WFP) Programme Assistant (Data Analysis) job placement should hold a
Bachelor’s University degree in any of the following areas: Statistics,
Agricultural Economics, Social Sciences, Development Economics or any
other related field obtained from a reputable education institution; - Four years of progressive professional experience two of which must
be in database management or related functions; - Knowledge of PHP, MySQL, SQL, HTML and JavaScript for management of
the database; - Has facilitated communication with technical teams (i.e. nutrition,
VAM, etc.). - Has contributed to implementation of programmes.
- Has observed or assisted with policy discussions.
- Excellent command of both oral and written English.
- Programme Lifecycle & Food Assistance: Can facilitate implementation of food
assistance programmes under guidance using basic understanding of
principles and good practices of programme design, implementation and
monitoring. - Transfer Modalities (Food, Cash, Vouchers): Demonstrates ability to facilitate,
under guidance, food assistance programme implementation that deploys full
range of transfer modalities with an understanding of basic principles
guiding modality selection and implementation. - Knowledge of Specialized Areas: Understands basic technical concepts and data and their relevance to
food assistance programmes. - Emergency Programming: Displays capacity to provide inputs into the development,
implementation and realignment of high quality emergency programmes. - Strategic Policy Engagement w/Govt: Understands and applies basic principles
of engagement with government counterparts at the national or local level.
