vision is a future in which big data is harnessed safely and responsibly as a
public good. Its mission is to accelerate discovery, development and scaled
adoption of big data innovation for sustainable development and humanitarian
action. Global Pulse is building a catalytic network of in-country innovation
centers, which will test new tools, data and analysis, share what lessons with
the global community, mainstream successful approaches for real-time impact
monitoring into policymaking. The first Lab has been established in New York
(Pulse Lab New York) followed by Jakarta, Indonesia and Kampala, Uganda. Pulse
Lab Kampala is an inter-agency initiative of the United Nations under the
leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator in Uganda. The first of its kind in

non-governmental organizations and private sector to explore the utility of new

Job Summary: The Radio Equipment Maintenance Technician
will ensure the data streaming for the radio component. The Technician is
expected to work in close collaboration with the teams at Pulse Lab Kampala;
The tasks to be undertaken shall be executed from a designated district of
operation within Uganda with periodic updates sent to the team at Pulse Lab
Kampala; Any findings and or recommendations as to the performance of the
equipment shall be forwarded to Pulse Lab Kampala for consideration and urgent
attention with immediate effect; Copyright and ownership – all materials
produced and other intellectual property will be solely owned by Pulse Lab
Kampala. Any material provided to the technician will remain the property of
Pulse Lab Kampala.

Expected deliverables:
- Report advising the Lab on how to improve the performance of data
streaming; - Ensure at least 300 radio clips are uploaded per day between 0500
hrs to 0000hrs (Midnight) for all the radio stations; - At least one clip per hour per radio station from at least 6 radio
stations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant for the United Nations UNDP Radio Equipment
Maintenance Technician job placement should hold a Bachelor’s degree in
Technical Education or higher such as in I.T, Computer Science, Computer
Engineering. - One to two years of experience on applied work in the context of
digital datastreaming; - Experience working with the UN and added advantage.
- Language Requirements: Excellent command of English; Ability to speak local language in the
district of deployment would be an added advantage.
