Job Summary: The Assessment and Intake Officer provides direct
leadership to Assessment, Intake and Community Interpretation Unit. Coordinates
the resettlement process and day to day assessment and intake of RLP clients.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Monitoring developing of guidelines, work plans , reports and
policies pertaining client assessment, screening and case management - Coordinate staff trainings on Resettlement, Client Management System
and RLP Case management processes. - Facilitate in trainings, workshops, conferences and seminars on
Refugees and Human Rights - Conduct all performance evaluations in the unit including scheduled
and emergency evaluations - Supervise activities of all unit staff including reception through
staff scheduling and the delegation of shared office duties. - Manage the Community Interpreter’s roster to avoid colliding with
scheduled organisational events - Provides recommendations for unit goals, policies and procedures,
statistical reports, and process improvements as per the current inflow of
clients Manage the feedback process for clients and periodically inform
the management (HR) on client and staff inquiries and complaints in the
case of personnel. Responsible for ensuring monthly, quarterly and final
reports are complete, accurate and done on time. - Design, develop and implement required feedback and communication
systems for office operations.

- Determine client’s eligibility through assessment and intake of all
walk-in clients. Manage the process of assisting clients to
identify/assess their needs, barriers, relevant services and options - Manage both internal and external referrals within the Unit.
- Identify appropriate services and resources relevant to their needs
Provide clients with an overview of the society and their rights and
obligations. Provide clients with introductory and/or basic information on
norms, services, and systems. - Maintain a comprehensive library of information pamphlets, booklets
and videos in various languages.

- Identify, interview, assess resettlement needs, and process persons
identified for resettlement following established procedures. - Assist in monitoring resettlement activities to ensure progress
against targets, transparency and efficiency in case submissions and
appropriate follow-up with resettlement agencies and other key
stakeholders. - Assist in mitigating resettlement fraud through oversight advice and

- Submit approved resettlement cases to the approved service providers

- Provide clients and their families with detailed information, and/or
guidance to navigate through specific government processes. - Introduce clients to relevant services and/or resources within the
broader community that relate to their identified needs. - Identify barriers to accessing broader community services and assist
to schedule appointments, prepare brief correspondences and ensure that
interpretation and translation support is provided. - Provide cross-cultural orientation to clients and community service
providers while clients access service. - Offer preliminary counseling to clients
Documentation
- Maintain and safeguard confidential records of all organisational
clients. - Ensure that all clients’ information is entered into the
organisational database(s) - Ensure the recording of statistics for all services provided.
- Submit an up-to-date and accurate report on resettlement cases and
needs assessments to management as required. - Maintain an up to date external service providers list for external
referrals - Ensure the maintenance of both hard copy and soft copy files for all
clients falling under RLP mandate - Attend staff meetings and organizational planning and development
sessions as requested. - Maintain a current knowledge of trends in the field and enhance
existing skills through professional development.

- Independently and/or as part of a team undertake related social
research with the bid to publish findings on service accessibility issues
among refugees and forced migrants in general - Participate in data collection processes and activities through
interviews and focus group discussions or using any other adopted data
selection technique - Identify and prepare research training materials, tools as necessary
for the execution of specific research project.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Refugee Law Project (RLP) Assessment and
Intake Officer job opportunity must hold a University degree in
international law, international relations, political science, social
sciences, Development Studies or related fields of discipline. - A minimum of three years’ experience delivering frontline community
services in a refugee and/or newcomer related setting and working with
community based agencies

- Excellent communication skills (both interpersonal and with
supervisor) - Possess a great attention to detail and truly organized
- Have a strong sense of personal initiative and be able to work
independently in a fast – paced office. - An interest in international, refugee, social justice and
humanitarian issues
