International Inc a leading international development is implementing the Feed
the Future Uganda Youth Leadership for Agriculture (YLA) Activity. The
five-year (July 2015—July 2020) Activity supports Ugandan partners, with youth
in the lead, to identity and promote sustainable, inclusive, and cost-effective
approaches that put youth – especially female youth squarely in the agriculture
sector as leaders, farmers, entrepreneurs, and employees.

Job Summary: The Technical Writer (TW) is responsible for
producing various high-quality communications products by the respective
deadlines as established in the Contract, by USAID and or the COP. The TW must
produce content in English, using the USAID approved format and marking and
branding requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The TW is responsible for producing high-quality and submission of
project reports by the respective deadlines as established in the
Contract, by USAID and or the Chief of Party (COP) and/or Deputy Chief of
Party (DCOP). - The TW must produce various reports using the USAID approved format and
Marking and Branding requirements. Input for the reports should come from
the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) and Partnerships teams. The
reports will include quarterly and annual reports; weekly updates for
USAID; annual work plans; and any other report requested by the COP and/or
DCOP and USAID. - In collaboration with Activity staff, update communication materials
such as facts sheets and brochures. - Identify and write success stories for dissemination to USAID, the
public, partners, and other stakeholders. - Work closely with the pertinent technical staff to facilitate timely
completion and submission of press releases, one-pagers, technical briefs,
proofs of concepts, and other informational pieces as necessary. - Assist the regional communications interns with following up and
collecting information on YLA activities for ongoing public relations and
media. - Communicate information in a way that demonstrates a basic
understanding of development assistance work, Chemonics values, and the
specific scope and nature of YLA. - Perform any other duties within the scope of the responsibilities of
the position as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications,
English, or a related field - At least two years of professional experience is required
- Experience working on development projects, especially USAID-funded
projects, is preferred Strong writing and communication skills in English
required - Ability to work with numerous partners to coordinate production of
reports and other materials Ability to work collaboratively with technical
staff, project partners, and project beneficiaries Strong attention to
detail is required - Strong computer and formatting skills in Word and other publishing
programs as required - Ability and willingness to meet tight deadlines
- Strong organizational and work prioritization skills, attention to
detail - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
