The Infectious
Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization.
IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and
Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications and have impacted
on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over
41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May
2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of Health
Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of
Health.
Job Summary: The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration
(IDRC) seeks to hire a suitable candidate for the position of Nurse Tracker for
the SEARCH SAPPHIRE study to be based in South Western Uganda. The Successful
candidate will report to the Clinical Officer.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Responsible for recruitment and follow up of participants
within the communities.
·
Oversee the linkage of study participants from the
communities to the health centre.
·
Prepare a list of clients who have missed clinic
appointments.
·
Make home follow-ups of clients who have not come for
their clinic appointments.
·
Counsel clients on adhering to their drugs and clinic
appointments.
·
Provide back up to the study staff.
·
Proper identification and reporting of adverse events.
·
Foster a good working relationship with clients and the
participating communities.
·
Counsel clients on PrEP adherence and follow up on clients
who need to be supported during the study.
·
Make reports on clients followed up and the outcomes as
well as activity reports.
·
Attend to clients as a clinical services team member.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
A Diploma in General/Comprehensive Nursing from a
recognized institution; a Bachelor’s degree in nursing is an added advantage.
·
A minimum of three years of progressive working experience
in an HIV research setting, with good knowledge of research ethics.
·
Must be registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives
Council with a valid practicing license.
·
Must be able to ride a motorbike (may be tested) and have
a valid riding license.
·
Ability to work in a rural setting when required.
·
Must have up to date GCP/HSP training certificates.
·
Excellent knowledge (both oral and written) of Runyankole
fluency and or languages
·
spoken in South-Western Uganda.
