Job Summary: The Incoming Quality Inspector – EV Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring all incoming components meet defined quality, safety, and regulatory standards before production use. The role focuses on inspection, documentation, supplier coordination, and cross-functional support to prevent quality issues, ensure traceability, and support reliable electric vehicle manufacturing operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect EV components including batteries, motors, controllers, frames, and braking systems to ensure conformance with drawings, specifications, and approved quality standards.
- Conduct visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using Vernier calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and gauges to verify component accuracy and performance.
- Identify, segregate, and label non-conforming materials; raise rejection reports and ensure defective parts are controlled to prevent use in production.
- Maintain inspection records, acceptance and rejection reports, and ensure traceability through batch numbers, serial numbers, and SAP system entries.
- Communicate defects and specification gaps to suppliers, issue NCRs, follow up on CAPA actions, and support supplier quality audits and performance reviews.
- Ensure incoming parts comply with internal quality standards, EV regulatory requirements, and applicable norms such as ISO, AIS, RoHS, and safety standards.
- Recommend inspection process improvements to reduce lead time and errors; actively participate in Kaizen, 5S, Lean manufacturing, and quality improvement projects.
- Work closely with R&D, Production, and Procurement teams on part validation, trial builds, and root cause analysis of quality issues impacting assembly.
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures while handling high-voltage and sensitive EV components, ensuring proper ESD controls and environmental storage conditions.
- Prepare quality check sheets and inspection formats, communicate issues using Excel and PowerPoint, and maintain accurate quality data in SAP and related systems.
