Millennium Sacco 2012 Ltd was established on 13/12/2012 under the name Ankole Diocese Millennium SACCO. The main objective was to improve people’s livelihoods by offering affordable loans at competitive rates and having a good savings culture in our society.
Job Summary: As a Risk and Compliance Officer you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the SACCO operates within regulatory frameworks and maintains robust risk management practices. You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing risk management policies, procedures, and compliance measures to safeguard the SACCO’s interests and ensure its continued financial stability and regulatory compliance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compliance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor and assess compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings as required by relevant authorities.
- Training and Awareness:
- Develop and deliver training programs on risk management and compliance to SACCO staff and management.
- Raise awareness of regulatory requirements and best practices among staff to promote a culture of compliance and risk awareness.
- Internal Controls and Audit:
- Collaborate with internal audit teams to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance measures.
- Coordinate responses to audit findings and implement corrective actions to address identified deficiencies.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify and evaluate operational, financial, and regulatory risks.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and action plans to address identified risks and vulnerabilities. Monitor risk indicators and escalate emerging risks to management for timely action.
- External Relationships and Regulatory Liaison:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors.
- Coordinate regulatory examinations and audits, providing necessary documentation and support as required.
- Stay abreast of regulatory developments and industry trends to ensure the SACCO’s compliance practices remain current and effective.
- Any other duty assigned to you by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum relevant academic qualifications for each position.
- Minimum experience of 2 years for each position Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Experience in a financial institution or SACCO will be an added advantage.
