Background
The Next Creata Program is Next-Creata’s flagship intervention under the Uganda Creatives Program, implemented in partnership with Bayimba Foundation, ITC, and Mastercard Foundation. The program seeks to enhance skills, employability, and financial inclusion for 40,000 young women across Uganda’s creative economy through media production training, digital upskilling, market linkage, and entrepreneurial pathways.
Job Summary: Master Trainers are responsible for delivering hands-on, practical, project-based media training to young women in the Uganda Creatives Program. The role ensures that learners gain real production skills, build professional discipline, and graduate with portfolio–ready work that can be used to secure paid opportunities in the industry.
Master Trainers are expected to train like working professionals — not theorists. This is a production-floor training environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Training Delivery
- Plan and deliver structured, practical training sessions using approved curriculum modules.
- Teach using real industry workflows, production tools, timelines, briefs, and collaborative team assignments.
- Conduct daily practical exercises, drills, guided editing/production tasks, and performance check-ins.
Project Supervision & Output Quality
- Lead the development of team-based production projects (e.g., short films, shows, radio segments, graphic promo packs).
- Guide learners through pre-production, production, and post-production phases.
- Ensure each trainee graduates with at least one polished portfolio project.
Mentorship & Professional Readiness
- Coach learners on:
- Professional discipline
- On-set etiquette
- Client communication
- Creative collaboration
- Delivering to deadlines
- Conduct periodic 1-on-1 mentorship check-ins.
Assessment & Reporting
- Track participant attendance, progress, and competencies.
- Provide weekly learner skills assessment updates to the Curriculum & Training Manager.
- Identify top talents for internship and work placement pipelines.
Training Environment & Safeguarding
- Support a safe, respectful, inclusive learning environment.
- Model anti-harassment, gender-inclusive studio conduct.
- Report safeguarding concerns immediately according to program protocol.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated professional expertise in one of the listed specializations (portfolio needed).
- Experience training, supervising, or coaching junior creators or media students (formal or informal).
- Familiarity with collaborative creative workflows.
- Degree not required. Skill and portfolio outweigh academic qualification.
