Job Summary: The Risk Officer’s position is responsible for
supporting the management of risks faced by the organization on a day to day
basis through identification, assessment, mitigation, reporting and continuous
monitoring.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Formulating and updating of policies,
procedures manuals, process flows/maps for new and existing products,
processes in line with assessed risks arising from new or changes in
regulations, legislation, technology, industry - Developing and regularly updating of
risk assessment registers for new and existing processes/products/channels
including recommending mitigating actions and follow up with process
owners to ensure timely implementation and performing validations - Developing and updating of the key risk
indicators, analyzing and investigating of abnormal trends, recommending
corrective actions and following up to ensure timely implementation of
remedial strategies - Recording and updating the loss incident
database/log, analyze, investigate, recommend and monitor/follow up on
implementation of mitigating actions. - Creating a high level of awareness of
risks that the institution is exposed to, their impact and
actions/measures in place to mitigate them. - Tracking of timely review of policy
manuals and ensuring that are appropriate and were presented to the Board
for approval - Championing the development of Business
Continuity Management process, updating and testing of Business
Resumption, Disaster Recovery and Crisis Management plans - Stress testing in line with the
established guidelines, analyze results, recommend and follow up on the
implementation of agreed upon corrective actions - Regular analysis of financial
information, including assessment of accuracy and completeness of reports
in place for proper control over processes such as lending and financial
reporting - Tracking /follow up on control
weaknesses identified in reports from Audits (Internal and External) to
ensure appropriate remedial actions are implemented in time - Reporting on high risk exposures and
mitigating actions to Management and Board Risk Committees on a monthly or
quarterly basis
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the FINCA Uganda
Risk Officer job must hold a bachelor’s degree in Business, Credit or
Finance. Professional
qualifications will be an added advantage - A minimum of three years of work
experience in a Financial/Banking sector preferably in Internal Controls,
Risk Management or Audit (Internal/External) - Broad knowledge and understanding of
enterprise Risk Management practices in the financial Services sector - Good interpersonal, presentation,
communication and reporting skills - High proficiency in the use of
computerized applications - Knowledge and effective application of
all relevant banking regulations, policies, processes, procedures and
guidance - Fluency in English
