Job Summary: A leading Mobile telecommunications operator in Uganda is seeking an experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO) to drive the company’s technology strategy, digital transformation, and IT operations.
This is a board-level role for a visionary leader with deep expertise in telecom networks, IT systems, and digital innovation. The CIO will be instrumental in shaping technology-enabled growth, enhancing customer experience, and supporting operational efficiency across the business.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the company’s IT and digital strategy, aligned with business objectives.
- Oversee all technology operations, including network infrastructure, IT systems, cybersecurity, and cloud solutions.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and service innovation.
- Ensure data security, compliance, and regulatory requirements are met across all systems.
- Lead vendor management, partnerships, and procurement of technology solutions.
- Manage, mentor, and build a high-performing IT leadership team.
- Collaborate with other executive leaders to integrate technology into business strategy and decision-making.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a CIO or senior IT leader in a MNO/MVNO Telco Organisation.
- African market experience
- Strong knowledge of telecom networks, IT infrastructure, cloud computing, and digital platforms.
- Experience managing large-scale IT operations and multi-site teams.
- Track record of leading digital transformation or innovation initiatives in telecoms or related industries.
- Excellent strategic thinking, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks in the African telecom market is preferred.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate technology into measurable business value.
