The National Social
Security Fund (NSSF) is a Provident Fund mandated to provide social security to
its members as prescribed by law under CAP 222 (Laws of Uganda) through
efficient management of members’ contributions. The NSSF asset base is
currently over Ugx. 9.8  trillion, making the Fund one of the largest
players in Uganda’s economy.
Job Summary:  The Data Analyst will be responsible for the
overall data quality assurance and optimizing the value of data at the Fund.
           
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Develop usage and access control policies and systems in
    collaboration with the data steward.
  • Partner with the data stewards towards continuous improvement
    processes impacting data quality, including developing and automating data
    cleaning and monitoring tools and routines using advanced programming
    techniques and methods.
  • Apply advanced data science, statistical and predictive modeling
    techniques to build, maintain, and improve on multiple real-time decision
    systems.
  • Conduct end-to-end data mining against specific processes and
    activities to identify and treat any identified gaps. Enhance data
    collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building
    analytic systems.
  • Partner with process owners to adhere to develop policy and
    procedure manuals, standard systems and methods for managing business
    processes, enable sustainable improvements in business results.
  • Facilitate desired productivity and quality performance from team
    and stakeholders, based on defined KPIs as set by management teams across
    the department.
  • Continuously check the organization’s data privacy policy or monitor
    compliance of data process flows against data quality standards.
  • Report to management on the progress of data quality improvement and
    help resolve data quality problems through appropriate process design
    strategies, as well as error detection, correction tests and procedures.
  • Develop and market new data related products and services both
    internally and externally.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the National Security
    Social Fund (NSSF) Data Analyst job placement must hold a Bachelor’s
    degree in any of these fields; Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science,
    Software Engineering or Computer Science, or any other highly numerical
    degree
  • Formal Training or Certification from a
    recognized institution in one of the following; Data Science, Machine
    Learning, Big Data Analytics and Big Data (completed or enrolled).
  • Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in the
    fields specified is an added advantage
  • At least two years of experience in data
    science and analytics solutions.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis,
    quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate
    testing, and optimization algorithms.
  • Algorithmic and structured thinking
  • Excellent programming skills,
    preferably; Python and R-programming
  • Knowledge of machine learning and big
    data techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Extremely meticulous in approach to work
  • Keen attention to detail
