About US:
The Uganda Refinery
Holding Company (URHC) is a Private Limited Liability Company incorporated
under the Companies Act (2012). It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Uganda
National Oil Company (UNOC) Ltd. The purpose of the URHC is to hold, on behalf
of UNOC, interest in the refinery project planned to be developed in Kabaale, Hoima
District and its associated infrastructure. URHC has also been given the
mandate to develop, operationalize and manage the 29.57 km2 Kabaale petro-based
Industrial Park (KIP).
Job Summary:  The Exploration Geologist will be responsible
for identifying and evaluating potential oil and gas deposits, using geological
techniques.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Participate in geological data acquisition, interpretation and
    evaluation to generate quality hydrocarbon plays, prospects and leads.
  • Participate in evaluating and ranking the resources, risks and
    uncertainties of the prospects to be drilled and suggest exploration and
    development programs.
  • Develop subsurface static reservoir models to understand structure,
    reservoir characteristics and petroleum quality and quantity.
  • Assist in planning exploration wells.
  • Participate in the estimation of the petroleum resources/reserves
    and classify the Company’s resource portfolio with prudent classification
    frameworks.
  • Evaluate Partners’ technical proposals and participate in meetings
    with Partners and Authorities, when required.
  • Participate in the quality control, storage and management of
    geological data and physical field samples that relate to exploration
    areas.
  • Participate in the preparation of applications for petroleum
    exploration licenses, and evaluation of geological work programs and other
    technical proposals.
  • Assist in the development of operational procedures for E&P
    operations and in ensuring that all operations are conducted according to
    approved procedures.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • Master’s Degree in Petroleum Geosciences or any other relevant
    degree
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Petroleum Geosciences or any relevant
    degree.
  • At least five years of experience in petroleum E&P operations.
  • Be skilled in integrated reservoir modelling. Have knowledge of
    Exploration and development operations, Health & Safety standards and
    operational procedures.
  • Hands-on experience in geological analysis and integration software
    suites, such as PETREL.
