Job Summary: The SURGE Project Driver will mainly provide
transport services, administrative and logistical support to staff and AAU’s
stakeholders in line with the AAU Policies and Procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Driving Staff,
Partners and Visitors
Partners and Visitors
- Drive staff, visitors, partners and other stakeholders to and from
various destinations as per AAU policies and procedures. - Carry out pre-travel inspection of vehicles and ascertain journey
preparedness, notify the line manager accordingly (i.e. Inspect the
vehicle and establish its condition i.e. oils, tyre pressure, indicators
etc.). - Review assigned travel schedules, plan and document travel routing
and timing. - Transport AAU staff and property to assigned locations in line with
the approved travel plans. - Carry out passenger and goods safety inspection and resolve any
anomalies before travel. - Maintain vehicle security before, during and after travel and report
on any identified anomalies in line with the vehicle policy.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Maintaining vehicles, generators and motor cycles in clean and good
mechanical conditions in line with AAU policies. - Maintain the cleanliness of AAU vehicles in line with the Vehicle
Policy. - Routinely check vehicle for faults, carry out and document basic
repairs and promptly report major vehicle faults for management action. - Carry out basic regular maintenance of the vehicles (i.e. refilling
the vehicle i.e. coolants, battery water, hydraulic oil and brake fluid). - Take the Vehicle for serving and repairs, monitor and report on
service provider’s work. - Develop and submit weekly reports on the status of the vehicle,
generator and motor cycle.
Message Deliveries
- Pick, deliver and account for all correspondences (mails, messages,
parcels etc) in line with instructions and known office practice - Delivering and picking travel documents to embassies and follow up
on visas, work permits for
international staff from immigration offices. - Deliver, pick, and register all mails and parcels and make
accountabilities for all mails and parcels delivered. - Pick Cheques and Cash for petty cash replenishments and advances for
Programme activities.

- Provide support to staff and other stakeholders in the field; photo
up date and child message collection and deliveries as per their work [an
and procedures - Review user requirements, solicit financial advances in line with
approved user requirements and provide assistance in making purchases for
goods required for an activity. - Provide support in the acquisition of materials from stores for
activities in the field - Carry out translation in case of foreign visitors and other visitors
who do not know the local language - Support child sponsorship and other field activities including photo
update, sponsorship message collection and delivery, etc - Assist field officers in making payment to participants
Planning and

- Plan and budget for the vehicle and provide other logistical support
and prepare periodic accountabilities. - Picking quotations from suppliers and other service providers
- Participating in vehicle budgeting and planning
- Log both official and private mileages and provide accountability
- Make monthly reports on vehicles, generators and motor cycles
- Participate in LRP cluster procurement committees and interviews
- Check and update the validity of statutory requirement i.e. vehicle
logbooks, insurance status and driving license
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the ActionAid SURGE Project Driver job placement
must hold a Diploma in any related field - Possess a valid driver’s permit
- A training in Basic Financial and Logistics Management is an added
advantage. - A minimum of two years of driving experience with government/NGOS.
- Problem Sensitivity: Ability to analyse issues and identify
problems. - Good Communication (both written and spoken) skills.
- Defensive driving skills
- Good interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity.
- Basic mechanical skills
- Ability to establish critical working relationships
- Ability to promote and safeguard AAU policies
- Transformative feminist leadership skills
- Ability to conduct power analysis
