Straight Talk Foundation (STF) is a Ugandan health communications National Non-Governmental Organization that was founded in 1993 and operates nationally in Uganda. Its activities and interventions aim at improving the sexual reproductive health and wellbeing of young people for adoption of healthy behaviors in Uganda through advocacy, evidence driven communication and youth friendly service delivery.
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Senior Finance Officer, the Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting the daily financial operations and fulfilling periodic financial requirements at the head office.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support monthly bank and mobile money reconciliations of all accounts
- Ensure documents are organized, stamped, filed sequentially for easy access and scanned as and when need arises.
- Support in preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare Monthly budget variance reports for projects
- Review requisitions submitted to finance for correct coding and appropriate budgets
- Process all bank and mobile money payments to all relevant beneficiaries after approval of request.
- First level review of requests for payment at the head office.
- Capture all accountabilities received from staff in Navision
- Reconcile all accounts receivables and payable
- Filing monthly taxes all statutory returns WHT, PAYE, VAT, IT, NSSF etc.
- Update new budgets, activity codes in system after approval
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business or any other related qualification from a recognized university.
- Must possess at least a credit in Mathematics and English at UCE level.
- 1-year experience working in a similar position, preferably in a non-governmental organization (NGO).
- Experience in use of an accounting package preferably Microsoft Navision.
- Good level of competence in MS Excel, Word, Outlook.
- High levels of integrity and commitment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills.
- Good analytical skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- A strong team player
- Excellent time management
- Ability to work under pressure and meet targets
