Founded by Cuthbert and Olive Muhanguzi, the company was established on 23rd August 2007. Since its inception, S&S Ent Ltd has grown into a dynamic business with diverse operations, including a salon, washing bay, cyber café, supermarket, restaurant, and a private fresh produce bakery.

 

Job Summary:  The Supermarket Chief Cashier at S&S Enterprise is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing all cash handling operations within the supermarket. This position ensures the accuracy and security of cash transactions, the proper functioning of point-of-sale (POS) systems, and the effective management of cashier staff. The Chief Cashier plays a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures, and delivering excellent customer service. This role reports directly to the Store Manager and collaborates closely with the finance and operations teams.

 

The Supermarket Chief Cashier at S&S Enterprise is responsible for maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring efficient cash operations, and leading a team of cashiers to deliver exceptional customer service. This role is critical in upholding our organizational standards and achieving operational excellence. Candidates for this position must demonstrate strong leadership, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to ethical practices.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Cash Handling and Reconciliation:

  • Oversee daily cash transactions, ensuring that all funds are accurately accounted for and reconciled at the end of each shift.
  • Verify cash registers, prepare cash reports, and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Implement and monitor strict cash control procedures to prevent losses or fraud.

Management of POS Systems:

  • Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of all POS machines within the supermarket.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to cashier staff on the use of POS systems, troubleshooting common issues as they arise.

Staff Supervision and Training:

  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of cashiers, ensuring they adhere to company policies, standard operating procedures, and customer service standards.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development.
  • Schedule shifts and manage workforce allocations to ensure optimal staffing levels during peak and off-peak hours.

Customer Service Excellence:

  • Ensure that all customer transactions are handled with accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints or issues related to cash transactions in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Monitor cashier interactions to ensure a high level of service quality and maintain a positive shopping experience.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with S&S Enterprise’s financial policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cash handling and reconciliation reports for review by management.
  • Participate in regular audits and assist with investigations related to cash handling irregularities.

Security and Fraud Prevention:

  • Implement robust security measures for cash management, including surveillance monitoring and secure storage of cash and sensitive documents.
  • Educate cashier staff on identifying and preventing fraudulent activities and report any suspicious behavior to the appropriate authorities.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a retail cash handling role, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership position.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing POS systems and conducting cash reconciliations is essential.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Proficiency in using cash management systems and POS software.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data reporting and reconciliation processes.
