About Organisation:
Uganda Wildlife Research & Training Institute (UWRTI) is a semi-autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, established by Uganda Wildlife Research & Training Institute Act, 2016. The Institute is mandated to: “Undertake research and training services for sustainable conservation and management of Uganda’s wildlife resources.’’
Job Summary: To carry out basic accounting processes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing custody for accounting records and documents.
- Processing deferred tax payments, tax returns and keep records thereof.
- Posting financial transactions, cashbooks, subsidiary ledgers to General ledger and maintain up to-date record of books of accounts.
- Preparing and reconciling payroll transaction reports.
- Entering transactions into the commitment control register.
- Keeping custody of cash/imprest, effect payments, and maintain up-to-date cash book records.
- Preparing draft monthly reconciliation reports.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Diploma in Accounting, Business Studies/Administration with Accounting option obtained from a recognized University or Institution.
- Or Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education with Pre-professional Accounting qualification like: Accounts Technician Certificate (ATC) or, Certificate in Accounting Technician (CAT) awarded from recognized professional body accredited by Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
Working Experience
- At least 3-years of working experience as an Assistant Accountant in Government or an equivalent level from a reputable Organization.

- Effective Communication Innovative and Proactive Ethics and Integrity Inter-personal relations
- The applicants should not be more than 55 years of age at the time of application.
