Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) is a faith-based private University owned by the Episcopal Conference of the Catholic Bishops of Uganda.
Job Summary: The ICT Lab Attendant will take proper care and stewardship of designated ICT lab facilities (computers, projectors, smart boards etc.) especially at locations that are distant from the central ICT office. The lab attendants will be responsible for providing support to students and other users of the designated ICT labs. The role of lab attendants is essential for preventing theft or misuse, better availability, security, reliable operation and optimal use of lab facilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To provide operational and technical support for ICT lab facilities.
- Under the supervision of the Network Administrator (and sometimes Systems Administrator), install equipment & software required in the IT labs.
- To arrange for the required servicing and repair of ICT Lab equipment.
- To perform routine audits on systems and software.
- To answer user queries relating to use of the ICT Lab.
- To document the configuration of lab equipment and any changes.
- To ensure optimum operation of the ICT Lab facilities.
- To ensure the efficient flow of information between the Lab owner department and ICT technical team leaders.
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor that may be required from time to time for the smooth running of activities at UMU.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Should have at least a Diploma in Information Technology from a recognized institution of learning.
- At least one year’s experience working in a reputable organization.
- Ability to quickly learn other software used for teaching such as accounting software, video editing software e.t.c
- Should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Should be able to work beyond conventional working hours and on weekends.
