About the Company:
Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: Radar Operators meticulously monitor and interpret radar systems to provide critical data on weather, terrain, and Intrusions. Responsibilities encompass detecting and tracking objects, intrusions, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate communication.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate radar equipment to detect and track intrusions including foreign boats, intruders
- Monitor and interpret radar data to determine the location, speed, and direction of objects/intruders
- Identify and report any unusual or suspicious activity detected by the radar system
- Communicate with control room to ensure the safety of cages, platforms and other patrol boats
- Maintain accurate records and logs of radar activity and any incidents reported
- Troubleshoot and diagnose any equipment malfunctions and perform routine maintenance as needed
- Stay up to date with new radar technology and industry developments to continuously improve skills and knowledge
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Radar operator certification and license
- Familiarity with radar systems and equipment
- Ability to operate and maintain radar systems
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to interpret and analyze radar data
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Willingness to work in shifts and flexible schedules
- Physically fit to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
