Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- EPSCC Contract Management:
- Be the main contact point for Contract support or assistance for the Project teams.
- Participate actively to the negotiation of Change Orders on contractual and commercial aspects
- Proactively build and maintain relationships with contractors/suppliers in order to secure positive, constructive and cost-effective commercial agreements for the Project.
- Maintain the Changer Order registers and correspondence registers populated and up to date
- Provide support for all contract and procurement activities required
- Addressing any contract-related issues efficiently to maintain project momentum
- Develop CFT packages, evaluate commercial aspects of bids, and recommend awards when required Organizing records, overseeing contract execution, and ensuring all legal requirements are met
- Participate in defining and coordinating contract methods, coaching contract engineers, and ensuring governance is followed for contract processes
- General
- Assist the team in complying with Ugandan Law on aspects related to the Procurement processes.
- Adopt and demonstrate exemplary behavior with regard H3SE and H3SE rules implementation.
- Adopt and demonstrate exemplary behavior with regard to Ethics and project “code of conduct” policy
- Participate to meetings with partners, authorities and other stakeholders as required.
- Carry out any other duties or tasks that may be required by the position.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Law, Commercial or Engineering, ideally with a post-graduate qualification in a complementary discipline.
- 10+ years’ practical, relevant and progressive experience in preparation, negotiation, monitoring of complex technical contracts in the onshore and offshore oil or petrochemical industries. International project experience.
- In depth knowledge and understanding of different means of contractor remuneration and their commercial implications, practical experience of their use.
- Construction and civil works and experience with FIDIC contracts a plus.
- Knowledge and understanding of project services and contract processes including management, amendment & close out of contracts.
- Demonstrable general knowledge & understanding of project control, commercial, legal and insurance issues affecting the Company in general.
- Basic understanding of the technical domain in which the Project operates.
- Good interpersonal, communication, managerial & organizational skills, capabilities to take workload & work under pressure, able to work in a multicultural environment.
- Take proper actions & decisions to respect targets, including reporting to his/her manager.
- Ability to adapt & to represent the Company in discussions / negotiations with Contractors.
- Ability and willingness to effectively and robustly challenge the views of contractors, suppliers and internal contact, and negotiate reasonable settlements whilst maintaining good relationships and sharing expertise and knowledge as appropriate.
