Job Summary: The incumbent’s main responsibility is to plan, organize and coordinate all engineering and technical related activities in the Broadcasting Division to meet production, transmission, and other operational requirements for radio and TV as well as champion technology leadership in projects, change management, application of methods, techniques and equipment while remaining within the approved budget. This position is also involved in translating the broadcast strategy into an operational system.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervising technical and production staff in a busy broadcasting environment.
- Drawing up technical budgets for approval then controlling the spending on OPEX and CAPEX;
- Managing and supervising all technical suppliers and contractors’ activities;
- Coordinating Multi-skilled and multi-disciplinary engineering activities;
- Proposing, designing, and seeking approval for new projects and changes required to continuously improve the efficiency of Broadcast service delivery.
- Interacting with the media technology industry in order to keep abreast with the rapid changes in technology and advising the business on best practices, technology changes and the subsequent adoption thereof;
- Working in liaison with the Regulatory (UCC) body to advise the Business on requirements and the regulatory environment to ensure full compliance.
- Engaging in contracts and other negotiations for all technical supply and support contracts, including license applications.
- Consolidating and presenting reports on all aspects of technical service delivery; and
- Ensuring agreed targets on service downtime, project delivery timelines, and production support and complaint resolution are achieved.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Academic: Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Professional: Relevant professional qualifications and membership to a relevant professional body
- Experience: Eight (8) years of relevant experience, three (3) years of which should be at supervisory level.
