Job Summary: Dei Group, a Plant is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Head Miller. The Head Miller is responsible for overseeing the milling operations at the wheat processing facility, ensuring that production targets are met efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role includes managing the milling process, supervising a team of millers, and optimizing the use of resources to achieve maximum productivity and minimal waste. The Head Miller plays a critical role in maintaining product quality, adhering to food safety standards, and implementing best practices in milling operations.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all milling processes, including wheat cleaning, conditioning, grinding, sifting, and bagging.
  • Develop and implement production schedules to ensure timely milling based on demand and capacity.
  • Monitor and adjust milling equipment to optimize the grinding process and maintain consistent flour quality.
  • Maintain production efficiency by adjusting machine settings as needed to prevent downtime and minimize waste.
  • Ensure that the quality of flour and by-products meets company standards and industry regulations.
  • Regularly conduct quality checks and make necessary adjustments to maintain consistent product quality.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to identify and address quality issues promptly.
  • Maintain records of production quality, including sample tests and inspection results, to ensure compliance with quality benchmarks.
  • Lead, train, and supervise the milling team, including junior millers, technicians, and support staff.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to enhance team skills in milling and machine operations.

Conduct

  • performance reviews and implement improvement plans as necessary to ensure productivity and quality targets are met.
  • Promote a positive, productive, and safe working environment within the milling team.
  • Monitor milling equipment and coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure regular servicing and minimal downtime.
  • Ensure that all equipment is properly calibrated and functioning at optimal levels.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs and troubleshoot issues to reduce equipment failure and production delays.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and coordinate timely ordering to avoid disruptions.
  • Enforce all safety procedures and policies, ensuring that the milling area complies with health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Ensure team members use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols.
  • Comply with local and industry regulations, including food safety, sanitation, and environmental guidelines.
  • Analyze milling processes to identify opportunities for improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing productivity.
  • Implement best practices in milling technology and process controls to optimize yields and minimize wastage.
  • Stay updated on milling technology advancements and recommend equipment or process upgrades as needed.
  • Track inventory levels of wheat, flour, and by-products to ensure adequate stock and timely restocking.
  • Maintain accurate records of production output, quality metrics, and resource utilization.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on milling operations to the Production Manager.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Grain Science, Agricultural Engineering, or related field. Relevant certifications in milling are a plus.
  • An advanced Degree (master’s) in a relevant field is an advantage but not required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in milling operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role in a wheat milling facility.

Job knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of milling equipment and Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize milling processes
  • Language: English level IV (Advanced knowledge) Reading/ Writing/Speaking is required.

Skills and abilities:

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, supervise, and motivate a team.
  • Effective communication skills for team collaboration and reporting to management.
  • High level of attention to detail in quality control, safety compliance, and process optimization.
