The Women’s International Peace Centre, formerly Isis-WICCE, is a feminist organization founded in 1974 and based in Kampala, Uganda. Our mission is to ignite women’s leadership, amplify their voices, and deepen their impact in recreating peace. Our WEAVE model intersects research (on women’s specific experiences and needs), evidence-based advocacy (to influence national, regional, and international policy and practice), holistic healing (to enable women’s wellbeing and participation in peace processes), skills and movement building to equip WHRDs with necessary skills, build networks and facilitate exchange of strategies to advance women’s leadership for peace.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:   Under the supervision of the Chief of Party, the Regional Coordinator will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the Ugandans for Peace Activity in one of the regions (Eastern, Western, or Northern)
  • Provide support to Activity sub-awardees and stakeholders on violence prevention, dispute resolution and mitigation and early warning and response to election related violence.
  • Coordinate and maintain good relationships with stakeholders and partners in the region to support implementation of the Activity raise potential problems and provide solutions.
  • Establish and maintain good communication with regional partners and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the Women’s International Peace Centre and the WSR in NGO Coordination Meetings, and any other relevant meetings at the district level, respond to queries and ensure submission of periodic reports to the districts.
  • Monitor the implementation of Ugandans for Peace Activity interventions annual work plans by partners
  • Maintain records of Activity implementation in the region.
  • Document the Ugandans for Peace Activity implementation process in accordance with set protocols and guidelines in the region.
  • Support the identification of risks and timely updating of the Secretariat
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • First degree or Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies; human rights, gender/women’s studies, Peace and Security or a related field is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of programme management experience in the field of governance and development.
  • Proven experience of working with national and regional stakeholders in the areas of good governance, elections, peace and conflict resolution.
  • Proven and strong project management experience preferably in the non-profit sector with sound knowledge and experience in all aspects of project cycle (design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation).
  • Proven experience in coordination and networking.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Strong written, analytical, presentation, reporting and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in implementing projects in different regions in Uganda is an asset.
  • Experience working with an NGO and/or INGO working on peace and security is an advantage.
  • Languages: Proficiency in any other local language (s) spoken in the region of interest is a must.
