Job Title:  Quality Assurance Supervisor

Southgate Industries is a leading fruit processing company, located in Kampala Industrial & Business Park (KIBP Namanve). We process pineapples, mangoes, and bananas into puree, concentrate, and other value-added products.

Job Summary: The Quality Assurance Supervisor will develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance systems to ensure that all products meet SGI’s quality standards. The role will focus on product testing, process monitoring, and compliance with food safety regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The quality assurance Manager will oversee the following

• Quality Systems and Standards
• Product Testing and Inspection
• Audits and Compliance

Duty/ Responsibility:

• Develop and implement quality assurance processes and systems for the production of all company’s products including but not limited to mango and pineapple fruit pulp, pineapple juice concentrate and bottled juice.
• Ensure that products meet both local and international food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO, FSSC).
• Laise with regulatory bodies like UNBS, NEMA to ensure compliance with required standards
• Oversee regular product testing, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Ensure batch records are complete and accurate, with corrective actions taken when necessary.
• Conduct regular internal audits and prepare for external audits by regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and food safety certifications.
• Lead the Quality Assurance team, including QA officers and lab technicians.
• Train team members on quality control procedures and ensure continuous professional development.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Experience – At least 5-7 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control roles within the food processing industry, preferably in beverage or juice production
• Knowledge of food safety standards – In-depth understanding of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), ISO 22000, FSSC, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and local food safety regulations, including Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) requirements

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field
• Certifications in Quality Management Systems – Certification in ISO 9001 or related quality management systems is highly desirable
