Job Summary:   WFD, are now looking to recruit an experienced Project Officer to support the development of its Strengthening Accountable Democracy in Uganda [SADU] Programme in Uganda.

Reporting to the WFD Project Coordinator (SADU), the Project Officer will undertake a variety of tasks including organising and delivering programme activities, financial and administrative tasks related to programme delivery (such as the procurement and contracting of suppliers), assisting in the preparation of narrative reports, collecting monitoring and evaluation data and communicating programmes successes and achievements.

The Project Officer – SADU will work with in close collaboration with the SADU Programme Team at NIMD, as well as with donors, experts/consultants, representatives of local partners and across WFD teams in the UK, ensuring that the programme meets the highest standard.

The Project Officer – SADU is part of the WFD Uganda Country Team.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The core skills and experience we are looking for are;

  • ​Significant experience (2 – 3 years) working in a similar position and in providing programme administration, evaluation, and monitoring services.
  • Highly developed written and spoken English, ability to draft reports, proposals, and communications.
  • Ability to work with a diverse and multi-disciplinary team.
  • An understanding of Uganda’s political process and political background and the challenges of democracy building in the country.
  • An understanding of issues of exclusion of disadvantaged groups, including youth, women, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people.
  • Exceptional planning and organisation skills and experience working to a high degree of accuracy.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and effectively plan and organise own workloads
  • Competent reviewing data, researching and producing analytical reports.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 suite of Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Dynamics)
  • Experience with budgeting and finance management for programmes
  • Ability to work with diversity and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Educated to degree level OR significant experience
