Job Summary: This is an exciting time to be joining WFD, we are now looking to recruit an experienced Programme Administrative Finance Assistant to support the development of our Inclusive Policy Initiative Phase II programme in Uganda.
Programme Administrative and Finance Assistants (PAFAs) play a critical role in the organisation primarily responsible for the management of financial and administrative activities relating to the delivery of programmes, providing accurate information, coordinating financial and administrative activities and managing financial processes and procedures.
Under the direction of the Country Director Uganda and Finance Officer, the Programme Administrative and Finance Assistant (PAFA) will provide administrative and financial support to the programme team, including managing and recording transactions of the local office for reimbursement, monthly bank reconciliation, and supporting administration affairs such as scheduling travel plans, systems and process management, contacting/contracting suppliers, and stationery maintenance. Working closely with the Regional Finance Business Partner (RFBP) and head office teams in the UK, the PAFA will ensure that financial and administrative activities are in line with donor requirements and with WFD’s operational procedures. In addition, the PAFA will provide operational logistics support in relation to the delivery of programmes and general administrative supports for other areas.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: The core skills and experience we are looking for are;
- Extensive (at least 2-3 years) experience working within a similar role in managing financial expenditure and controls procedures; bank accounts; transactions, supplier communication; developing budgets; presenting financial reports and information; risk and compliance management; and logistical support
- Degree or qualification in finance/accountancy or in a relevant discipline.
- Proven programme/project administration experience and skills in programme administration (e.g. data management, financial reporting, logistics support, procurement and contracting).
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Self-motivated with the ability to effectively plan and organise own workloads with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 suite of Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Dynamics)
- Ability to work with a diverse and multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience in working with international organisations, foreign affairs, public relations, accounting or consulting firm is a plus.
