Job Summary:   The CBS Manager is responsible for the comprehensive oversight, implementation, and support of Core Banking Applications (CBA) to ensure they align with business requirements and organizational policies. This role includes assessing current systems and applications, offering strategic consultation to enhance delivery capabilities, and ensuring compliance with processes. The manager will also oversee new products, projects, and applications necessary to achieve business objectives. Additionally, cultivating and managing vendor relationships is crucial for ensuring timely delivery and effective resolution of issues related to application setup and maintenance.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the functioning and monitoring capabilities of all Core Banking Systems by the requirements of the business including the banking system and all other business-critical applications. This would include the requirement of identifying, evaluating, supervising, and implementing banking applications and systems.
  • Evaluate the proposed change of banking applications in collaboration with the advice provided by the Advisories and project the way forward for the organization on its technology platform.
  • Contemplate the automation of all possible functions and processes to eliminate risks and wastages.
  • Follow the approved escalation procedure and ensure approved change management processes are followed with efficient participation in the final approval of the go-live functionality of any application.
  • Identify, mentor, and manage the project team to provide input on project development and management.
  • Development and enhancement of Service Level Agreement (SLA) for all functions performance with internal or external customers.
  • Efficient management of critical functions and reporting of projects.
  • Ensure proper planning to take care of any exigencies that might affect the timelines of projects and ensure that a plan B is in place and available for rollout without delay.
  • Manage overall day-to-day activities of all projects and support activities relating to CBA.
  • Provide the feedback on status of projects and processes.
  • Demonstrates flexibility by applying key skills in a variety of areas, quickly adapts to new learning situations and environments; demonstrates agility and responsiveness in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
  • Ensure the product being acquired /proposed to be acquired /modifications being done are suitable to the best extent.
  • Ensure review bank’s existing operational systems and methods, identifying options for the improvement of process efficiencies.
  • Assist in ensuring application security is maintained at the maximum level to ensure the integrity is uncompromised and regular and comprehensive internal control checks are performed.
  • Assist the Head – of IT Operations for each budget period, outlining reasons, costs, and resources required.
  • Ensure compliance with bank and regulatory requirements during the implementation of IT projects-related services for the bank.
  • Prepare and ensure that Risk Control Self-Assessment is conducted periodically for unit.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT-related courses.
  • At least 5-6 years of experience in banking technology with a focus on core banking systems with at least 3 years at a Supervisory level.
  • A master’s degree/postgraduate diploma & certification in project management (e.g., PMP), IT governance (e.g., COBIT), or relevant vendor-specific certifications in IT-related courses will be an added advantage.
