Job Title:  Hub Rider (5 Job Vacancies) 

Organisation: Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI)

Duty Station: Wakiso and Masaka, Uganda

Reports to: Laboratory Systems Coordinator

 

About the Company:

Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an independently governed institute within the College of Health Sciences at Makerere University and has the mission “To strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases, through research and capacity development.” IDI has operations across Uganda as well as in a number of other African countries and has a staffing of over 1,000 managing multiple projects in research, clinical services, public health and training.

 

Job Summary:   Responsible for sample transportation from lower health facilities to respective hubs, post office and deliver results in a timely manner ensuring high level of biosafety and bio security

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pick client samples from designated IDI-MWHP supported health facilities and deliver them to the designated lab hub for testing
  • Pick results from the Laboratory hubs and deliver them to the respective peripheral health facilities
  • Ensure safety and security of client samples during transportation to the laboratory hubs for testing
  • Maintain utmost confidentiality and protection of client results and any other related information during transportation of results to the health facilities
  • Timely response and availability at the required facility whenever called upon to offer support
  • Ensure safety and security of the motor bike during after sample transportation process




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Uganda Certificate of Education
  • Possession of full licensing and a riding permit as guided by the Traffic and road safety Act and any other relevant laws of Uganda
  • Ability to keep the motor bike in a road worthy condition as per stated requirements
  • A valid riding permit
  • Minimum of UCE qualification
