About Project:

The URRI project objective is to enhance climate resilience of women, men and youth in refugee and host communities and promote inclusive, cohesive, and environmentally sustainable development in refugee-affected areas in line with local priorities. The project has 3 outcome areas: (i) Enhanced climate adaptation and resilience for women, men and youth in refugee and host communities through inclusive climate-smart agriculture, (ii) Sustainable management of the environment in refugee-affected areas through inclusive interventions leading to enhanced conservation of natural resources, biodiversity, ecosystem services, and productivity, and (iii) Enhanced gender equality and women’s empowerment and rights among refugees and host communities in relation to agriculture, climate change adaptation and sustainable management of the environment.

 

Job Summary:   S/he is accountable and responsible for effective and efficient project management. S/he manages all aspects of project planning and quality implementation, including providing project management and technical expertise, project finance and budget management, compliance with donor rules and regulations, line management of staff, coordinating with partners, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting, and building staff & partner capacity. S/he will represent the organization in projected related external meetings and workshops when required.




Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Assistance and Capacity Building

Lead in conducting of the gender analysis to identify gender-specific needs, barriers, and opportunities within the project target districts to be used in the development of the resulting plans and activities.

Oversee the implementation of regional gender strategies and action plans to address identified gender issues and promote gender equality.

Support the implementation of URRI using gender appropriate strategies with a gender lens ensuring equity in participation of all gender groups.

Ensure equal access and equitable participation of all gender groups to achieve better project outcomes. that all areas of the programming are sensitive to gender equity and equality where all gender groups can participate freely and build program synergies.

Coordinate and collaborate with other technical teams to ensure women, men, boys, girls and other marginalised groups are integrated in all project activities for economic empowerment and women and girls are able to exercise their freedom and make informed choices for themselves and their families including SRH choices for women. Collaborate with the Gender specialist to Identify gaps in staff and partner capacity on gender equality and GBV and to address the identified capacity gaps.

Collaborate with the Gender specialist to train and mentor partner and on GBV Guidelines and IASC Gender Handbook, gender and inclusion approaches particularly the gender action learning systems (GALS)

Identify and build synergies with the SAY project on GBV and SRH

Capacity Building and Training

Collaborate with the Gender specialist to provide capacity building and facilitate workshops on gender equality, and related topics for staff, partners, and stakeholders in the region.

Participate in the creation of educational materials and resources to support gender awareness.

Representation and Advocacy

Participate in all relevant coordination platforms at regional levels including with the Cluster / Working Groups to integrate gender equality issues and share information. Collaborate with Local partners and stakeholders in campaigns to lobby gender sensitive practices and behaviour change

Support communications and advocacy teams to promote targeted advocacy messages on gender equality and GBV tailored to the region.

Advocate to district authorities on behalf of women, youth and other marginalised groups.

Communicate women’s, youth and other marginalised groups’ feedback, learnings and other interest to URRI, the gender

Support the achievement of the URRI Outcome 3, outputs and indicators

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning

Work with MEAL and sector Technical Advisors to integrate gender equality into all MEAL processes including gender equality specific indicators, quality benchmarks and response monitoring and evaluation tools, including Real Time Reviews, and lead the process of analysing data and adapting programming to respond to identified gaps and risks.

Monitor and ensure gender considerations are woven through out project activities implementation in the region

Regularly collect monitoring and evaluation data from engagement of women, men, girls, boys and local communities and transfer this to the MEAL team for analysis

Ensure a robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning plan for gender equality indicators in both emergency and development contexts working together with the MEAL team.

Document implemented gender equality approaches and share best practices and innovations for replication and advocacy purpose among partners.

Collaborate with Gender Specialist to disseminate research findings and good practices at regional level including district local government, Private sector partners and community opinion leaders.

Partnership:

Establish and maintain close linkages with relevant district local government departments and civil society partners in the management and implementation of the Project.

Collaborate with the partnership team and the Gender Specialist to carry out partner mapping, and support capacity building plans for partners in gender Equality.

Document best practices and unique experiences for sharing and learning.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  To be a strong supporter and advocate for children in this role you will need to have:

Minimum of 5 years of Project management experience managing Projects for an international NGO.

Experience in working in consortium and external representation including with donors and coordination meetings.

Demonstrable technical expertise in the assessment of, design and project implementation, including monitoring and evaluation.

Has a good understanding of gender and demonstrated experience in working with the government authorities at all levels.

Demonstrated skills in program planning, and all aspects of project management.

Demonstrated skills in leadership and supervision of staff and in building and maintaining a high performing team.

Experience in promoting children’s rights and gender, including participation in programming, design, implementation and evaluation.

Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.

Inter-personal skills to influence and guide staff and partners in identifying programming opportunities and resolving program challenges.

Commitment to the values and mission of Save the Children.

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Fluency in English required.

Demonstrated capacity and experience in capacity building approaches in their technical area (trainings, on the job support, mentoring) including the development of individual capacity building plans.

Ability to work with minimal supervision in stressful environments
