Job Summary: The Case Manager clerk will be responsible for scheduling, registration, and gathering information for the use by hospital and doctors for the benefit of International Hospital Kampala and their patients, and to appropriately satisfy the patient’s financial obligation to the hospital. The Case Manager arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients, ensures the accurate patient information is collected, and verifies insurance benefits and eligibility.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Pre-admits patients by receiving bookings from physicians; confirming admitting privileges of physicians; interviewing patients; entering patient information to pre- admissions data base.
Formulation of quotations and financial counselling.
Engage all stakeholders (Patients, DMS/Doctors, Finance) to ensure that patients recommended for admission and theatre are converted.
Posting A&E bills.
Provides patients with information by explaining hospital admission policies, time of admission, room selection, answering inquiries.
Secures payments by screening insurance information; identifying patients requiring pre-admission, approvals from third-party payers; verifying approvals; notifying patient accounts department of self-paying admissions.
Prepares admission folders by gathering admission paperwork for scheduled patients.
Greets and receives patients to be admitted by conducting personal interviews; entering demographic and insurance information; confirming preadmission information; obtaining signatures on legal consents and insurance forms; distributing patient information literature.
Verifies patient identity by checking identification; Ensures patient’s arrival at the hospital room or testing area by assigning patient beds; notifying nursing unit of patient’s arrival.
Admits emergency room and maternity patients by obtaining information form family members, visiting emergency room, delivery room, or patient room.
Provides information to the public by answering admitting procedure, hospital regulation and service inquiries of patients and the public, referring inquiries.
Serves and protects the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, state, and local requirements.
Accomplish admissions and hospital mission by completing related results as needed.
Communicates treatment processes and patient care delivery to patients.
Communicates patient rights, billing, and payment procedures to patients.
Prepare and explain admission consent forms
Ensure proper bed space management
Plan and execute room tours with clients
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years hospital setting experience.
Excellent Communication skills with doctors, patients, their families and with other members of the general practice team.
Multi-tasking, listening, Data entry skills, Language fluency, teamwork, people skills.
