Nama Wellness Community Centre (NAWEC) was founded in May 2014 and is headquartered in Lukojjo Village, Nama sub-county, Mukono District, Uganda. It has a long tradition of providing high-quality health care to the people of Mukono and its surrounding areas. Our primary goal is to eradicate preventable deaths among children and women, a mission that propels our strategic initiatives and interventions.
Job Summary: The Finance and Administration Manager will be a critical member of the organization, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and supporting the Executive Director in various financial and administrative functions. This role will focus on four primary areas: managing financial operations, maintaining and updating organizational policies and procedures, overseeing resources, and ensuring efficient administrative processes. Through these responsibilities, the Finance and Administration Manager will contribute significantly to the organization’s strategic and operational success.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a computerized accounting system in line with agreed procedures, using Quick books.
- Prepare budgets, coordinate and monitor expenditures of financial resources of the organization while maintaining ethical standards.
- Check, process and record all payments, administer invoices and expenses, claims received, code items to agreed budgets, and action payments.
- Oversee the timely preparation of payroll, statutory and non-statutory deductions as well as timely remittance of statutory returns (PAYE, NSSF & OTHER TAX RETURNS).
- Oversee preparation of bank reconciliation statements.
- Establish and operate an effective financial management and information system.
- Prepare and present quarterly financial reports to the Executive Director, Senior Management Team and the Board of Directors.
- Coordinate procurement of goods and services, ensuring that they are in line with set procedures and ensure that annually pre-qualified list of suppliers and goods provider are made and widely shared with all staff.
- Facilitate effective end of year audit processes.
- Advise the board and management team on key financial policy reforms needed to ensure smooth operation of the organization.
- Ensure timely accountability of funds from General Administration.
- Oversee the development and implementation of work plans for the organization including accurate and timely financing reporting and documentation.
- And any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: The ideal candidate for the Finance and Administration Manager role should possess the following academic and professional qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency in computerized accounting systems, with a strong preference for expertise in QuickBooks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Professional certification in accountancy, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
- A Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or a related advanced degree is considered a valuable asset.
Work Experience: The successful candidate will have the following experience and competencies:
- Extensive hands-on experience in both finance and office administration, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of financial systems and processes.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and lead teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, ensuring clear and concise reporting and correspondence.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing financial operations within NGOs or similar sectors.
- A proven track record of excellence in previous employment, demonstrating integrity, reliability, and success in financial management roles.
