Job Summary:  The holder of the role will be responsible for overseeing the effectiveness of the control framework and further drive the development policies and procedures across the organization in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advisor to the MD on strategic initiatives, performance improvement of the Organization, and assisting MD in achieving business results. Lead the elements of strategic planning & implementation within the company by providing solutions to business issues & challenges.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with MTN MoMo Board, and external partners.
  • Provides ongoing support to MD on general business development issues, informing MD of system-wide matters needing attention so as to enable MD to focus on more strategic challenges and better optimize use of time
  • Researching, benchmarking, publishing accurate and factual information for decision making as well as providing thought leadership on changes taking place within the industry.
  • Supports the business in the strategic projects rollout and ensures tracking of progress, using information integrated from varied systems and sources.
  • Responsible for leading & coordinating all administrative tasks within the MD’s office and ensures the efficient running of the MD’s office.
  • Communicates and coordinates internal and external information from the MD’s office to the Business Unit directors and partners.
  • Prepares agenda, researches and document information for meetings involving issues and projects deemed necessary by MD; proactively ensures successful execution of above. Attends EXCO Leadership meeting and guide agenda in such meetings.

  • Execution: Strong project management skills, deadline management, sense of responsibility and accountability and the ability to effectively multi-task. Understanding of and high competency in project management in non-linear work, particularly in the context of diverse path dependencies with a variety of partners
  • Decision-Making: Ability to evaluate risks and opportunities, using analytical and strong problem-solving skills. Ability to identify how to fill information gaps, and to appropriately balance discipline with adaptive learning
  • Integration: Ability to demonstrate inclusiveness, collaboration, respect and broad organizational interests. An appetite and ability for working with diverse teams
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities; exceptional listening written and verbal skills. Mature presence and the ability to quickly build credibility in a new setting.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Commerce or Business Administration.
  • Post-Graduate in Finance and/or relevant professional qualification (e.g., Chartered Accountant)

Experience:

  • Must have 6 years work experience in the Telecom/ICT space of FMCG; 3 of which must be at middle management level in a cross-functional or matrix organization.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in project management.

Training:

  • Requires strong experience in business and solution development, project/program management, and project delivery in Fintech space
  • Experience developing complex, multi-year project plans to meet business objectives within budget
  • Very Strong understanding of the system development life cycle.
  • Very Strong understanding of the Project Management and testing life cycle.
  • Ability to interact effectively with various levels within the organization.
  • Proven experience in risk management and change management.
  • Proficient in project management software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of project management methodology to identify and communicate issues, risks and dependencies across a large-scale program.
  • Experience using automated Project management governance tool.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present to all levels of the organization including EXCO.
