Job Summary: We are seeking a competent and enthusiastic School Librarian that support to cultivate a love for reading, research, and lifelong learning by creation of a supportive, engaging, and well -managed library environment that enhances teaching, learning, and student achievement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date library resources catalogue and information services system in alignment with curriculum requirements and student learning needs
- Organize, and maintain print, digital, audio-visual, and electronic library resources.
- Assist students and staff in the effective utilisation and evaluation of information resources and services.
- Provide reference, research, and information literacy support to students and staff.
- Plan and implement the literacy promotion strategy and curriculum support.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and research skills into classroom learning.
- Support the development of information literacy, critical thinking, and independent research skills.
- Maintain library administration and systems management
- Conduct library inventory and ensure relevant resources as required.
- Train library assistants, volunteers, and student aides where applicable.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, organized, and conducive learning environment within the library.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the role should hold at least a degree in Library Science or related field from a recognised university.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a school setting.
- Knowledge of library policies, procedures and technologies.
- Strong collaboration skills with a proactive, goal-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational planning skills.
