Job Title: SAP Functional Specialist

Job Summary: Responsible for the implementation, maintaining and optimizing of the Hariss SAP modules by analyzing business processes, configuring system settings and translating user requirements into technical specifications. Bridge the gap between business needs and technical teams through documenting requirements, testing, training and support. Monitor the system performance and take action as required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Requirement Analysis & Design:
- Analyze, map and document business processes to align with SAP best practices.
System Configuration:
- Customize SAP modules (functional design) in conjunction with the SAP Vendor to meet specific business needs.
Testing & Validation:
- Conduct unit testing, integration testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Documentation & Training:
- Prepare functional specifications for developers and create training materials.
- Ensure that functional specifications are reviewed and signed-off by Users.
- Update existing business process documentation where and when applicable to maintain an accurate documented baseline.
Support & Maintenance:
- Provide support to Users, resolve system issues and manage support tickets.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with SAP AMC vendor to deliver the required solutions.
- Ensure that all defined Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) are achieved by the support Vendor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or related acceptable qualification:
- Preferred Fields: Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration or Management Information Systems.
Specialized Backgrounds:
- Degree in Finance or Accounting are highly valued for FICO consultants, while Supply Chain backgrounds benefit consultants in MM or SD modules.
- Hariss Core Modules: Includes FI/CO, HCM, MM, PP, PM, QA, SD and SAP Analytics Cloud.
Certifications:
- Official SAP Certifications (Associate, Professional or Expert levels) would be a plus. SAP Certified Application Associate for S/4HANA a must.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of relevant industry experience or prior SAP implementation experience.
- Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA is a must.
- Experience working in East Africa is a plus.
Technical Proficiency:
- Detailed understanding of specific SAP modules (e.g., FI/CO, HCM, MM, PP, PM, QA, SD and SAC), as assigned to the specific functional specialist.
- An in depth knowledge in FI/CO and HCM is an advantage.
- Detailed understanding of SAP S/4HANA, including configuration and customization.
- Configuring, modifying and implementing SAP modules based on business requirements.
- Writing Functional Specifications and business cases where required.
- Training end-users on SAP system functionalities.
- Experienced in setting up organizational structures, master data, and workflows within the system.
- Problem-Solving: perform troubleshooting of system errors and optimizing inefficient business processes.
Business Process Expertise:
- Strong understanding of industry-specific processes (e.g., Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash).
- Understanding of how departments operate within the business to effectively map end-user requirements to SAP.
Methodology & Tools:
- Experience with project lifecycle management, testing (UAT), data migration and documentation.
Analytical Skills:
- Ability to gather requirements, perform gap analysis, translate “business talk” into functional specifications and map business processes to SAP functionality.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders. Be able to explain complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders clearly.
