Job Summary: Working under the direction of the Senior Graphic Designer, the Junior Graphic Designer will translate approved briefs into engaging, accurate and on-brand creative assets for church services, ministry programmes, campaigns, events, digital platforms, print and presentations. This is a hands-on developmental role for a creative, teachable designer who can balance fresh ideas with careful execution.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create original graphics and layouts for church services, campaigns, events, social media, websites, email, presentations, reports, signage, and other ministry needs.
- Adapt approved concepts into accurate sizes, formats and language versions for different campuses, ministries, and channels.
- Apply Watoto’s visual identity consistently across logos, typography, color, imagery, and campaign systems.
- Prepare proofed, production-ready artwork for print and digital use, including correct resolution, color mode, bleed, and export settings.
- Create platform-appropriate digital content and support basic image retouching, infographics, simple motion graphics, and short-form video edits.
- Contribute ideas during creative development and produce coordinated materials for services, campaigns, and events.
- Manage assigned work through briefing, review and sign-off; communicate risks early and meet agreed deadlines.
- Maintain clear file, names, versions, source files, templates, and final artwork so assets can be found and reused.
- Stay up to date with design trends, tools, techniques, and applying new ideas and technology to enhance the creative process.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the role should hold at least a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a graphic design role.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design software.
- Strong portfolio that showcases design skills and creativity.
- Good understanding of design principles, typography, colour theory, and layout techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and confidence, briefs facilitation and presentation concepts.
- Manage multiple design projects under tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of brand consistency and visual hierarchy.
