Simlaw Seeds Company Uganda Limited is a subsidiary of the Kenya Seed Group of Companies. Established in Kenya in 2002 as a limited liability company, Simlaw Seeds’ core business is the sale and marketing of high-quality horticultural seeds across Kenya and the wider Eastern Africa region.

In Uganda, we import, produce, market, and distribute genuine agricultural inputs, including seeds, agricultural chemicals, and farm tools. Our products serve both commercial farmers and subsistence or domestic users, ensuring access to reliable, quality inputs that support sustainable agricultural growth.

Job Summary:   We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-driven candidate to join our team for a fixed-term contract in the Production Department.

The Senior Production Officer will be responsible for The Senior Production Officer is responsible for the provision of agricultural extension services and ensuring adequate seed production for the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identification and Recruitment of seed growers to achieve set seed production targets.
• Coordinate distribution of basic seed and other farm inputs to all contracted farms and approved seed growers.
• Coordination of farm operations to optimize yields.
• Coordinate timely inspection of crops and advising farmers at various stages in accordance with best agronomic practices.
• Coordinate training programmes for seed growers.
• Certify payment of seed growers for seed deliveries.
• Collaborating with quality assurance department and the seed regulator to ensure the seed produced meets the required quality standard.
• Ensure registration of seed crops with National Seed Certification Services.
• Collection and compiling of seed production data.
• Prepare periodic work progress reports.
• Supervising seed harvesting and delivery to the processing plant.
• Advising on key issues that impact the production function in the zone.
• Appraise staff against set performance targets.
• Any other duties as may be assigned to you by management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• At least four (4) years of relevant work experience
• Bachelor degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or equivalent qualifications.
• Supervisory course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution
• Membership in good standing with a professional body
• Proficiency in computer applications
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work in a farm environment
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Demonstrated results in work performance
