Job Title: Senior Accountant

About Organisation:
Latitude Trade Company is a Ugandan social enterprise working with smallholder farmers to source traceable specialty cacao for export and produce bean to bar chocolate at origin.
Job Summary: Lead accounting and financial control across our Bundibugyo, Kasese, Kagadi and Hoima operations, with responsibility for regional accounts staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cash management and planning. Forecast cash needs and fund branches. Oversee cash, bank and mobile-money balances, buyer advances, recoveries and safe custody.
- Budgeting and payment approvals. Prepare budgets, track variances and verify payment documents. Coordinate weekly and monthly cash requirements across branches. Approve within written delegated authority, maintaining segregation of duties and escalating exceptions.
- Accounting and reporting. Maintain accounts, payables, receivables and reconciliations. Submit weekly cash and inventory reports and monthly close of month branch accounts.
- Stock and cost control. Reconcile cocoa purchases, farmer payments and stock movements. Maintain inventory valuations, reporting, and asset records; Carry out regular reconciliation and investigate differences in inventory reports.
- Team leadership and controls. Supervise accounts staff and visit branches. Conduct cash and stock checks, resolve audit issues and promptly escalate shortages, suspected fraud and control failures.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field, plus CPA or ACCA.
- At least five years of accounting experience, including staff supervision, cash management and budgeting. Agriculture, commodities or manufacturing experience is an advantage.
- Strong Excel and accounting systems skills, knowledge of Ugandan tax requirements and high integrity. Odoo experience is an advantage; must live in Bundibugyo and travel.
Benefits and Compensation
UGX 3,000,000-4,000,000 gross per month, including communications and housing allowances, depending on qualifications and experience. Statutory deductions apply. Work- related travel costs and medical support follow company policy.
