Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP) is a collaborative bio-medical research and service delivery organization. RHSP strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a combination of community-based research, curative services, and prevention strategies in the districts of South-central Uganda.
Job Summary: The Data Management Officer will support data management activities for RHSP research and clinical trials, including database design, data entry system development, data validation, discrepancy reporting, and collaboration with research teams to ensure effective data management practices. The role may also involve field visits to support the smooth running of data systems.
The position will supervise Assistant Data Management Officers and Records Officers, support data backup procedures, train data collectors and quality control teams, compile statistical reports, and assist with timely query resolution. The ideal candidate should have strong database, analytical, statistical programming, organizational and communication skills, with knowledge of GCP-compliant systems such as REDCap.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design RHSP research databases
- Validate data entry systems
- Resolve missing data records
- Supervise data officers
- Train data collection teams
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Statistics or Computer Science degree
- SQL database querying skills
- STATA, R or equivalent
- Excel and Access proficiency
- Strong analytical accuracy
- Nice to have
- REDCap database knowledge
- GCP database experience
- Clinical research exposure
- Epidemiology data knowledge
- Health research experience
